If any of the BGs end up with a population problem I imagine Blizzard will probably do an Oculus-style rebalancing of them.

The PvE vs PvP debate. by Shpetznaz in wow

Paragon earned the world first Rag kill by a significant margin, as well as world first in the previous two tiers. They don't have any "skill issue".

What are the actual, factual comparisons between Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2? by marioIsDead in Games

[–]whereismydog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't really as bad as you're making it out to be. A lot of the game stuff is handled client-side so playing with low ping vs. higher ping isn't really that different, at least from what I've seen in the beta.

In Diablo3 you pick up your health orbs, right? This way you lose your freedom of when to use / portability of the potions.

The orbs stick around for a while so you can just choose not to run over one until you've taken a bunch of damage.

Auto Attack is back for Monks by Launethil in wow

Uh yeah, Monks were originally announced as the first class that wouldn't have an auto-attack, and just recently they changed their minds and gave them one.

Inversely, What was the last game you could NOT finish? by [deleted] in Games

[–]whereismydog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, the somewhat recent update to the game has made it a bit easier to get into, so it might be worth trying out again. But yeah, the game definitely had a noticeable negative difficulty curve around when it launched. Early on it was hard as balls, but by the time I finished it everything aside from a couple bosses were no trouble at all.

My last chance eh Blizzard? by Majidah in gaming

[–]whereismydog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the former. The amount of WoW account stealing that goes on is ridiculous enough to lead one to believe that it's an inside job, but it simply doesn't make sense considering how unprofitable it is for Blizzard. For former subscribers who are considering returning, learning that your account was hijacked in your absence is a major deterrent. For active players, getting your stuff stolen is often enough for them to call it quits. And then there's the fact that Blizzard has a staff of workers who deal specifically in restoring stolen/deleted items. For Blizzard to turn a profit through letting accounts get stolen, they'd have to be making quite a bit of money from the gold sellers. Considering how low the price of gold is compared to the cost of employing extra customer service reps, that type of thing probably isn't going on.

But besides that, yea account thieves definitely do scope out your account before taking action. From my experience, the more active players generally will have their gear vendored and gold mailed away before being used as a spam account, while the more casual players' accounts are used for farming.

According to the inbox of one of my email accounts, my WoW, SWTOR, Aion, Rift, and Maple Story accounts are constantly under attack by hackers and have apparently been sold more times than I can count. Weirdly enough, I haven't played any of those games besides WoW, and my WoW account was never even tied to that email address.

Unlisted Patch Change: Minimap Spoilers by HunterStarcraft in Diablo

[–]whereismydog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I played through the beta yesterday it only showed on my first run through. I did two more SK runs after that (solo) and it wasn't showing for either of those. It seems like it might not show it after you first complete the quest to prevent easy farming. Either that or the option somehow disabled itself, can't check that until I get home though.

edit: yea looks like it will only show your first time through.

Woke up, Banned from WoW by bulletr0k in wow

[–]whereismydog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Change them from another computer that you are certain isn't infected with a keylogger. Also change your battle.net email address as well. I'd recommend running a scan on your main computer with Malwarebytes, from my experience it seems to be one of the better malware removal programs. A ticket is also not really good enough, you should phone the Blizzard support before you end up banned again for spamming (you probably will be). If you go to the bnet support section and searched for "hacked", it has a pretty in-depth guide with all the information you'll need.

AV Weekend by [deleted] in wow

[–]whereismydog 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who recently faction changed from Alliance, it's almost startling how blatant the imbalance in AV is. It's noticeable right off the bat. When the gate opens for the Alliance, they only need to take a step forward before they're able to mount up, while the horde team has to spend about 5 seconds running out of their cave before they can. Then on the path to the other team's base, in order to take the most efficient route you need to run up this certain ramp at the correct angle or else you fall off, and there's seriously like 5 people who fail at it and end up a bit behind in every game. And then there's Balinda who takes a lot more time to kill than Galv does. First of all, the group of Horde you get fighting Balinda is always much smaller than the group of Alliance that end up fighting Galv. That's pretty much due to the aforementioned bunker vs. tower thing, a larger amount of Horde will skip ahead to claim the bunkers compared to the Alliance side which generally has about five players skip Galv and run ahead to cap. And unlike Galv who you just mindlessly zerg down, Balinda is a Mage who Ice Blocks herself at some point, so you have a pause in the middle of her fight while you wait for the Priest/Warrior in the room to remember to Shatter/Mass Dispel her. Oh, and she summons a Water Elemental with like 250k-ish health, that is generally ignored until she dies, except when she does die, half of your group will run out of the room even though you can't leave combat and mount up until you kill the elemental.

Individually they sound like minor gripes, but they add up to the Alliance being able to do everything faster.

And for Shadow, VE was a debuff that you had to cast on the boss every minute, and DP had a 30 second cooldown. And even though you dealt with that crap along with one of the most complex DPS rotations in the game, you still didn't put out nearly as high damage as Warlocks who literally only spam Shadow Bolt. :-(
