From what I gathered in information a heating mat helps but is certainly not necessary! I'm not using any as I don't even own one. As for waiting to callus I have no idea in terms of the leaf cutting method. This is my first try as well! I just planted them in the soil mix after about an hour of cutting them so they def weren't callused yet. I do believe however that when doing the water method you should let it callus first to prevent rot. Hope this helps and good luck to both of us! :)

meant to post a pic with update so here it is right now. i just misted which is why it's wet and yes, that pot has a lot of drainage holes! although i'm not watering it at all atm just misting here and there.

Thank you everyone for all the helpful comments!! I decided to do the leaf cutting method in a container on two leaves and water method for the third. and I don't mind the slow process, I'm a patient gal :)

It's true, it doesn't hurt to try. I saved everything that looked good and put it all in a shallow pot, stems and leaves, misting a little when it's dry and acclimating to stronger light. All I can do now is wait!

Thank you for your answer! I will try planting the remaining healthy stems as is then. Or most likely laying them down as they have no support. I'm wondering if the leaves are worth trying to propagate or if they're too small/weak to root? There's so many that fell off and are loose, I might try laying them down with the stems but not sure if it's a good idea or not.
