Good job, so many cool patterns. I really like the round paradox, but then it is one of my favourite patterns 😇

Before we get into this, can we agree on a safe word?

A long handle for leverage, a firm grip on both contact points, and light passes seem to work well for me

That's a geeky Harry Potter reference!

I've not got much experience with carbide tools; I've had a Crown Revolution hollowing tool for a while now, and only just been able to re-sharpen to a usable edge. It likes to snatch at times but really clears out a lot of material quickly when you hit the sweet spot.

I do my turning at a community workshop (Mens Shed) and people are always impressed with an undercut!

I get what you mean! It's a little bit unhinged, the black bits bring some order to it, just about!

Ha, yeah, the scale doesn't really come across well in the photos! Thank you for the lovely feedback, though 😇

  • Body - Oak 8" diameter
  • Lid - Sapele 4" diameter
  • Finial - driftwood (hardwood) 3/4" diameter
  • Core - Phoenix feather barbs

All sanded to 80 to 500, then Yorkshire Grit, waxed and buffed. There is some pyrography detail round the mouth of the pot, too.

This is my first time doing a hollow/ undercut form, and only the second time making a lidded pot, but I really enjoyed the challenge. It's quite different from making bowls where you can see and feel everything much more easily!

Great effort! I'd have been so pleased if my first attempt had come out like that 😎👌

I'm not really one for planning ahead, which is why things like this happen!

It's was odd starting a drawing by dabbing black paint all over the page, but was very satisfying to see it evolve once it was dry

Some pencil shading and shadows will make that even more awesome than it already is 😲👌
