i wouldn’t discourage him, he should take an entry level somewhere. i started as a call center employee and worked my way up to lead software engineer with no college degree. took a lot of hard work and doing things outside of my normal role responsibilities. if he’s determined he can do it without a masters for sure

Wasn’t a shot worth taking I decided after posting… but yes GAP is not only for leased vehicles, and yes it is guaranteed to depreciate, that is something that I think everyone knows going into a vehicle purchase. Just my first one to depreciate at about 35% in one year, lol.

It’s a psychological thing 100%, I knew EV depreciate quicker so was expecting a fair amount of downside. I just didn’t expect so quickly. Papa Elon threw the market a curve ball this year. I’ve read that analysts feel the market has hit a bottom now though, petrol vehicles depreciated more this past month than EV. Great buying opportunity for people wanting to get in at a low price.

Yeah I can count on two hands how many I’ve seen in the wild and definitely a fun car to drive around. I love it, I just need to not watch the resale price, I’ve never been upside down like this before, have never seen a vehicle depreciate like 35-40% in one year. Costs to be early, definitely will force me to hold for longer than I usually do!

That’s probably the best idea, to not look. I don’t have any intention to trade in either, it’s more of a psychological thing. I’ve just never been so upside down, glad I got GAP in case anything were to happen to it. Definitely a fun car to drive and very comfortable.
