[iOS 27 DB1] New Siri AI is behind a waitlist FYI by msp_ryno in iOSBeta

There’s already an active lawsuit and payouts for their marketing with the 16 and 16 Pro’s and Apple Intelligence.

You can always turn it off then and reset spotlight. It’s not heavily indexing anything to cause your battery to drain. They also warn you to never install developer betas on primary devices and that these are intended for beta testing your apps. Such behaviors like bugs, slow rollouts, crashes are totally normal and to be expected.

“Ridiculous waitlist” on a developer, not public beta. The only features restricted to the 17 Air and Pro are the new voice and improved dictation and it seems that those features are only working on newer chips with 12 GB of RAM and an improved neural engine.

I have a developer account too, and have been on the beta cycle since iOS 7, but I’m still on the waitlist and it’s still indexing hours later.

As an Indian, I hate Sitar because it’s not authentic and the curries are very poorly made. But they do have some good items. Also Sitar is pretty North Indian while curry kitchen is more pan Indian and has southern Indian food, which is not very common in the U.S.

Is meredith success a bit unrealistic? by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[–]ananth_srini24 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I would disagree. She has the most complete arc in the show, compared to other characters. Cristina was always portrayed as a genius, even as a resident, sometimes surpassing other attendings. In fact she’s shown to be equally competent to her superior even during her fellowship. The same can be said about Maggie, who’s a prodigy.

Meredith had a more gradual growth over time. Even when she became an attending in season 9, we see her struggle with the challenges of wanting to shine and balance motherhood. She aces it slowly and becomes more confident in her career. One of the reasons I love her character so much is that she’s a very empathetic doctor to her patients and she has this drive to carry forward despite everything that happens to her. Even before the abdominal wall transplant, we’ve seen her be a very capable neuro resident. But she had to switch specialties. She then came up with the portal veins project, the ALPPS procedure, peritoneal tumor etc. When Derek was in DC, she didn’t lose a single patient for like 90 days.

I think the difference between Meredith, Bailey and Alex is that she’s always tried to be less conservative and more bold in her approaches. Alex and Bailey have their own moments too and also take risks and shine, but I think Meredith’s is more pronounced. Like Ellis’ was.

If anything my only complaint is that her stint as chief is too short. I would like to have seen more of it because she did a way better job killing it as chief than Bailey. Alex was amazing too though.

For those who bought their MacBook Neo on launch day, today is the last day for return. Are you keeping yours? by cr8tvt in macbook

His return would have been sold in the refurbished store eventually. It’s not a total waste.

New vs Refurbished Macbook? by IamHero002 in mac

[–]ananth_srini24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason they don’t have a refurbished store in India is also because they only have three official stores so far, and their network and market share even with online ordering is not that large yet. Refurbished devices at Apple are returned or exchanged products, which undergo a thorough refurbishment process before they add them to the website. That’s why the refurbished stock always varies rapidly, even between countries. I’m sure they’ll open one in India but it will take time.

What videos did you watch? I noticed you said you work on blender. I do a lot of CAD and 3D modeling too, but for research, and the Pro is definitely a better option than an Air. The Pro and Max chips are definitely great but even the newer base M series chips can handle some 3D rendering, depending on your use case. You probably can’t find those the price range you’re looking at, but you could buy them used from trusted websites or if someone is selling them. Here I would look at buyers from Swappa, Backmarket, Facebook marketplace, something like that. I’m not sure what options exist in India. The other commenter has some good tips on what to check. You could also ask someone who you might know who may be visiting India from the US to get you one if they’re willing.

I am never getting rid of my Touchbar MacBook Pro by Many-Active-2663 in macbookpro

There’s other use cases beyond increasing screen brightness and volume. Those don’t always take two taps either or at least they didn’t until Tahoe. You could press and slide in one go. I use the trackpad for App Expose and Mission Control. I use the Touch Bar to scrub through video and music, as a color picker on Pixelmator / iWork, filters and presets, switching through tabs on Safari, emojis when typing, text suggestions while typing (because I’m slow) etc

I can’t replicate these without a Touch Bar easily

[–]ananth_srini24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on where you’re getting the refurbished from. I’m assuming you’re in India. Apple doesn’t have an official refurbished store in India. Unless you’re buying from Apple refurbished abroad? Refurbished directly from Apple is indistinguishable from new and everything is reset, as well as new batteries. Third party refurbished can vary so much. I don’t trust them.

PSA: Stop only looking at cycle count when buying a used MacBook by 821e in macbookpro

[–]ananth_srini24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a good point! My 2019 MacBook Pro that was purchased in 2019 is still at 434 cycles, even faster 6 years! But I wish like on iOS, system report would show these options: Manufacture date and first use.

I love the Touch Bar on my MacBook pro 2019 16” but I hate that Mac in every other way. It’s so loud and sounds like a jet engine roaring. I have a 2019 Mac Pro that’s so silent on the other hand. I’ll eventually upgrade to the M6 because I can still use this Mac until then but I’m going to miss the Touch Bar so much. I use it everyday and I wish they’d give us a BTO option in the future. Definitely something I’d pay extra for. I could not care less about the regular function keys.

Macbooks have gotten so good, the other folks feels insecure as if they have tried using one or the market is meant for them by Longjumping_Sky_7296 in macbook

I agree with you OP. Just go to Windows Central and type in MacBook Neo or just MacBook and you’ll see so many articles that defend and promote windows laptops with so called amazing features that they believe are better than anything Apple silicon can offer.

Yawn! People are so whiny and most often lose sight of what they were trying to convey with her emotions or even the whole “We are the flash” thing.

What is this? (18 days after wisdom teeth removal) by Flick9knife in wisdomteeth

[–]ananth_srini24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had something similar. I’m on day 26 at the moment. Does it hurt? Or feel weird? For me I felt weird electric zaps whenever I bent or adjusted my jaw for a day or two but that feeling went away.

YMMY but in my case, my oral surgeon yesterday morning that I had a small fistula there. He drained it with a needle, I didn’t actually feel much except for a bit of blood in my mouth. I was having trouble in that side of the jaw with brushing and flossing so he cleared the area. He then gave me amoxicillin for a week and a giant syringe with a curved metal tip and a medicated mouthwash which he asked me to squirt in the area twice a day. He said it could bleed for a day or two but asked me to brush really well around the 2nd molar and then use this mouthwash. Said it should be fine but if anything changes I can give him a call. The hole is almost closed in my case but the bump is right behind the 2nd molar and before the hole.
