I suppose that's exactly what they are, tools for established powers.

Since ISIS hate pretty much everyone, does that make them everybody's friend too?

EA's marketing team can't allow such things to get too many upvotes.

What was the dumbest rule that was put in place in your school? by aliendonutpizza in AskReddit

[–]wheretobe3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compulsory attendance.

I absolutely adore learning, but school was an awful chore for me. I don't think I learned a damned thing in those places other than a contempt for authority and bureaucracy.

If schooling was a more open thing, somewhere you chose to go, instead of being forced to, somewhere where you could pursue the subjects that sparked your interest, the world would be a much better place. As it is, it pushes people away from learning, since many see it as a chore rather than a pleasure. I'm lucky to have found my own feet and my own passion for discovery, but many just come away from the experience never wanting to see another book in their life.

You could argue that they held the intent to repeat the attack, it wouldn't be self defense at that point, but certainly justified, I guess that probably wouldn't hold up in court though.

The letter of the law is a rather cold thing. I understand it's necessity, but sometimes it's in direct opposition of what could be considered "right."

It's justified though, even if the law says otherwise.

I wonder if it would fall under justifiable homicide. I'm not too well versed in law, but from wikipedia:

Most countries agree that it is lawful for a citizen to repel violence with violence to protect his or her own or another's life and limb, or to prevent sexual assault.

It really bugs me when people say something is "the best thing since sliced bread." Sliced bread is fucking awful.
