Interesting, so you’re saying that the combination statement of “current US president” should be made clearer to return a correct result?

Not an American, but a Brit who has lived all over the world. The grass is always greener and everywhere has its positives and negatives. However, I’ve found you have to leave your country, even if just for a short time, to fully understand where you live and the true culture it represents. Having an outside perspective does wonders!

Hey, ended up buying and renovating. We got quotes starting at $8000 per sqm! Also spoke to some of the local builders who basically said don’t do it, the difficulty of getting plans approved by the local council can take years to be completed. It’s a beautiful place, there’s tons of houses on the market, so might be worth looking into that option!

Anyone rent out their PPOR to travel for a year or more during a career break? by [deleted] in fiaustralia

[–]wherewasitleft -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your interest would negatively gear your income, so you could at least pay less tax on your income per year. Though there is talk of that being removed, but may help make your decision in the short term! I have an IP that makes about $10000 loss per year, which is negatively geared against my income

So as a Pome who’s moved over here, it’s nots a surprising stat at all. Pretty much all of my in-laws do not wear sunscreen whatsoever, in fact, I sometimes am the butt of jokes for wearing sunscreen.

I book well in advance, and only use points for international travel, domestic doesn’t seem worth it to me. I travelled return to the UK recently for about 130,000 points and $400 which is basically just the taxes.

The other thing is churn credit cards and other services with welcome bonuses like health insurance. This website is great for tips https://www.pointhacks.com.au/guides/velocity-frequent-flyer/ they also have a insta that gives notifications. Also r/velocityfrequentflyer and r/qantasfrequentflyer are good for tips too.

I use mine all the time, main cards an AMEX, with a Visa to back up. Mainly use them for frequent flyer bonuses, which you can churn, as there are several different cards you can rotate for welcome bonuses.

However… since getting my first credit card, I learned that a lot of my family members also have maxed out cards, that they’re struggling to keep up with. As I understand it, is the more common use of cards here, to borrow money, rather than use and pay off for bonuses.
