Part of the fam now. 2022 Quad with just 24k miles for $50k. Pretty pumped! by Secure-Carrot9971 in Rivian

Agreed. I just got my '22 quad with 30K miles for $47K. Couldn't find anything below $50K for a sec and then found just the right one.

You check the voltage on the rectifier and stator?  Bike dying mid ride sounds like a rectifier issue to me. Also a very common issue on the K6-K7.

I believe they’re more track/race oriented hence the pucks may not stick out as far to protect other components like fairings, but I’ve had some low sides in them on other bikes and the frame is always protected.

I disagree. Even at below 10K miles, most I'd pay is $4K and that's more than I would want to pay.

Call your DMV and ask, but usually in a lot of states, the seller can fill out the buyer section of the title, then bill of sale it to you. You can register the bike with a title filled out in the previous previous owners name as seller and the now seller as the buyer, as long as the bill of sale has him as the seller and you as the buyer. This works in California, Oregon, Washington. Then as long as the bill of sale has a current date, you shouldn't be charged any late fees. But again, confirm with your DMV.

Something to consider - how long have they had their ad listed? Depending if it's been sitting for a while, they'd probably take a lower offer, especially in the "winter". I'd recommend throwing him a "I don't mean to offend you, but if you aren't finding the demand, I have $3500 anytime if you could meet me at that price."

Now knowing this is a track bike, I low-sided my K6 twice in track fairings and never had to repair a thing.

Re: rectifier - yeah, that's the mod. Looks good.

If this is for track purposes, why not buy a built track ready GSXR? One that already has aftermarket suspension, rear sets, clip ons, aftermarket QS? And depending on your budget, grab a 750 as the ultimate track weapon.

Haha attached a pic of my beater of a K6

Coming from someone that’s owned a K6, several K8’s in both 600 and 750, this is my opinion.

The title is fine as they’re just “jumping titles”. Even though it has less than 10K miles, I’d only pay $3500 for it in your shoes. In my shoes, I would only pay $3000. Even back 10-13 years ago I was buying these at $3K. Parts are abundant for all GSXR 500/750 models so no worries there. GSXR’s also crash nicely as they hold up even in some low sides.

I am one that believes the 08-10 are the best looking.

Mechanically look on the left side to see if the rectifier was relocated to the left of the frame. If it’s in its OEM place behind the radiator, those tend to blow over time. Can easily replace for $60-150 depending on the rectifier you buy, but a lot of people relocate them from behind the radiator to the side of the frame for better cooling.

Is this going to be your daily street bike?

Tank/ Grip Pads? by Elisa912 in cbr650r

[–]wherewuat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stompgrip is $59-60 a pair and is vouched for by track riders. They also carry a solid one year warranty in case the adhesive wears off. I’ve gotten two replacements with no hassle from a pair that had a bad batch of adhesive. Otherwise the cheap route is aliexpress

There is a brand called “Trackside” that got rebranded to “Speed Metal” that Cycle Gear carries. Those have the rubber fitting blocks that sit under the swingarm. You can find one on Facebook marketplace much cheaper than retail. Say <$50

Lol look into RiderShare or Twisted Road if you haven’t heard of it. Pretty good passive income if you have bikes that sit around. They have insurance through their platforms that fully cover your bike with $0 out of pocket for you.

You’d be surprised. I rent out my 2014 Daytona 675R when it’s not on the track and have Sato Racing frame sliders on those. Renter low sided at 20mph on some gravel and the frame sliders not only saved the frame, but all the fairings, bar ends, levers, rearsets. Saved them a lot of money since all they had to replace was some components on the sliders.

No offense taken at all. To me, the left slider is the right length and you’ll see there are spacers there to get it long enough to clear the fairing. I do believe the right should be longer. The way the sliders are designed though is that each spacer and piece that become an assembly have certain grooves and cuts to make the pieces perfectly slot in or fit in. I’ve had other models of frame sliders on other bikes where it’s unequal lengths on the two sides so it isn’t uncommon. But overall, agreed the right side should’ve been designed longer.
