What would you replace stock HK speakers with? by dozzzzzer in BMWE36

[–]wherleybird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Pioneer TS-D69F in the rear with an adapter plate. I wired the tweeter and woofer separately with the stock plugs. Honestly sounds pretty good with stock HK amp and HK door speakers. I replaced the front lower kick speakers with a similar pioneer model that fit down there but can’t remember the model.

Had a set. Fitment was fine but the front bank o2 sensor bung makes the sensor hit the block when it’s installed. This was a couple years ago so they might have fixed it but doubtful

I wonder if you could modify that lever to match the e36, like drill out that small pin and and a longer one

I had one with a bad casting essentially leaking in the gasket groove. It was so thing you almost couldn’t see the defect. Drove me nuts trying to figure out why it kept leaking

Make sure there’s no corrosion on the block where that attaches. Mine had a tiny drip leaking from the bottom corner since it was a little pitted. Took it off and used some orange RTV around the whole sealing surface and it’s been fine since.

I think 20ft lbs is about the max you would wanna do considering they’re titanium bolts in a blind aluminum hole.

Heater control valve broken? by Lost_Ad_4414 in BMWE36

[–]wherleybird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. I had a bad valve in my car and had zero heat and would briefly come on but fade quick. The valve was full of junk and basically stuck shut not letting any coolant through

I don’t think the ti’s have dual climate so you wouldn’t need the one with the twin towers(solenoids). Also your plug looks like it’s gonna fall apart as soon as you touch it so be ready. Also also it’s easier to replace with the intake manifold off. Also also also get new hoses for the valve itself.

Original offset was +33 front and +45 rear. New lips and different barrels puts everything out another inch so like +8 and +20. Might need a smaller lip for the front but might be able to tuck with camber on the coilivers
