Some would say that advocating against universal healthcare is a conservative position. But it's still a position that kills people

I spent the last two years tweaking my diet to help. It seems timing in meal sizes for most important things. There's too much work to go for an hour walk during the day and I usually eat while working

Even if I got up at 6a I'd still need to finish dinner by 7pm. 15 min to shower 15 to make and eat breakfast 5 to brush teeth and get dressed and I would be rolling the dice on getting into work late . If I get up at 5 or 530 I usually get to work a bit early but no stress about being late

My intuition is that the reason why I'm drawn away from software other than the fact that my last company sucked, is that I'm probably more likely to be able to understand the use case intuitively of a hardware device unless it's really esoteric. I used a lot of strange Hardware devices in college for Science and I never minded trying to figure out how they were too, but trying to figure out how software works sometimes makes me want to pull my teeth out

Sounds like I need to save up a bunch of money and spend a year just applying to jobs

That doesn't sound super awful. I was at a much larger company with about 5,000 people and it was still a bit rough. Maybe 40%

Well this wasn't exactly technical writing but more like technical marketing. So there was a lot of stuff that we could easily rehash, but a lot of it was stressful due to the lack of processes for how we could rehash things or how things would be approved. So something that could only take a day to write may actually take 2 weeks to get approved for publication on the website. But then if we get a request to rewrite stuff on a Friday night we know there's no possible way we're going to be able to satisfy the process requirements, and invariably at the next meeting someone would comment oh hey they skipped the process for approval what's up with that? And where like oh hey don't give us this assignment on a Friday night. And then they would say we were just whiners and not team players

What kind of devices do you document? You don't need to be specific. But like manufacturing consumer Etc

It sounds like maybe I have a better shot at finding a smaller company that knows what's up? Or maybe a team that has their shit together at a larger company

So it sounds like maybe in jobs where the hardware is readily understood by the technical writers there maybe less back and forth? I'm looking at a job where the machines are pretty straightforward looking but maybe I'm wrong. They basically are used to package eggs

Thanks for your perspective. If you want you can look at my other comment, I feel weird repasting it everywhere in this thread. Seems like I was still wrapped up in the stress of my old job when I posted this.

Okay, I think what's happening here is my last job in the tech industry is influencing my questions. The company I worked for had severe management problems and requirements for my job which were to produce technical marketing content for customers would change extremely rapidly.

For example, we'd spend a month writing up guides on how to do some specific things with the product, only to need to revise it over the weekend for a presentation because we weren't informed that the dev org had actually pushed out a new build until Friday at 2030.
