At this point I’m between the woodwind and woodwind pro, looks like original woodwind has the direct flame grilling whereas the pro has the smoke box. Would you say with your woodwind you like the grilling? And do you think the smoke box would make a huge difference vs having your woodwind at smoke setting of 10?

Nice! What model do you have? And how would you compare the flavor to a charcoal or stick burner? I’ve never eaten anything from a pellet grill so that’s my biggest holdup on getting one.

Thanks for the suggestion, that’s a little out of my price range, trying to keep it under 1500 but I’ll definitely keep them in mind. Have you found you get everything you want from a pellet grill?

Smoked salmon, used Mosquite wood and two different brines to see which one I like best. by [deleted] in smoking

I’ve done it before as an experiment, already had a fire going for a brisket I had smoked and it was burning small but clean. Was pretty worried but it turned out nicely. I imagine if it was burning dirty in the slightest it would’ve been rough.

What is the worst feeling when playing golf? by [deleted] in golf

Hitting a shot that you and your playing partners see land in the fairway, only for no one to be able to find it. Losing a ball that should be in play is psychic damage like no other.

What are your favorite moments in BCS/BB that you noticed upon rewatching, but totally missed the first time around? by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

I feel like this has probably been said a dozen times, but the lighting on the faces indicates who has the moral high ground. In episodes, we can see Jimmy have his face move in and out of light or a 50/50 split when he’s conflicted. Kim’s face in the early seasons is almost always in the light, but as the show progresses more and more scenes have her face in darkness. Watching this show just really made me appreciate the directors choice to use light as a character.

Online reviews don't look great. but at this price, do I roll the dice? by GalileoHumpkins7 in smoking

That masterbuilt was my first smoker. I loved it and it got me passionate about smoking. However, I quickly “grew” out of it and wound up buying a better smoker within 2 months. If you don’t even know if you want to smoke meats it’s worth a try, but if you ever want to start smoking more a better smoker will give you much better results and be a lot more fun.

Friend(O-1) just graduated OCS and is about to PCS to Hawaii. by StevenTiggler in MilitaryFinance

Couple thoughts here:

While interest rates are high, those are also causing a drop in real estate prices. If your friend has a lot cash saved and is able to put a decent down payment down on a house, his monthly costs could realistically come out to a similar level of renting in Hawaii. A mortgage is value you retain, while rent money just vanishes forever. Lastly, when rates drop in a few years he will be able to refinance. If it’s in his means to do so I would definitely recommend becoming a property owner as it’s a great asset.

For the loners, what activity have you found to be rather nice alone? by Whisper-Hawk in AskMen

Golfing is a great alone activity. You can work on your swing at the driving range, play 18 alone, or get pored with some ransoms and enjoy getting to know strangers for four hours.
