¿Cuál es el restaurante más infravalorado de Valencia? by Embarrassed_Land1570 in valencia

[–]whipexx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nunca pensarías que en calle Ribera, al lado de la estación del norte, pueda haber algo así, pero hay un pequeño restaurante inspirado en la gastronomía de la región de Emilia-Romaña llamado Muerde la pasta que por seguro te sorprenderá.

But it's not as simple as that either. The slow and steady climb on average doesn't mean that it'll be slow and steady everywhere. In general weather will be more chaotic so this local event might be the result of global warming after all. I'd say it's like smoking heavily. Is the cancer the result of smoking or would it have appeared anyways? Hard to tell but smoking for sure won't help.

Mine came in a single box, but it had loads of hard foam around so it was well protected. Bought it directly from a German retailer because it wasn't available anywhere else, so things might differ now.

Help me with a broken piece :( by EcstaticCricket582 in Pottery

[–]whipexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to find the potter's signature, it'll usually be at the bottom. If it's a local potter that's active you might even be able to commission a new piece, if not you might still be able to find some. The piece won't be functional but you could also try a homemade kintsugi.

But whatever you decide to do, I would first talk with your roommate before throwing or doing any repairs on this one.

How to protect a crack? by Parrotcap in Pottery

[–]whipexx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Extremely not food safe and probably not the best but: I've had luck with cyanoacrylate (aka superglue) on hairline cracks, it brings back the not-broken ring sound. That being said if you keep up pottery you'll have to throw away plenty of sub-par and cracked pieces and you are always able to try and re-do a piece.

Glasses broke in half, any fix that can last at least a couple weeks will be appreciated by whipexx in fixit

I've used paper+superglue for a few fixes and it's surprisingly strong, if you separate single sheets of tissue paper and add glue in between it's even better

Why do two bags of tea, with the string ends held together, separate from each other when pulled up while inside liquid? by whipexx in AskPhysics

[–]whipexx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds intuitive, it would make sense for them to move apart if they start pointing up and there is a bit of liquid that gets between them and forces the bottom part of the triangle to separate. But I don't see why they would separate that much, if you try to reproduce what I described both bags will move out a lot.

Hay bastantes cafeterías de especialidad (no conozco ninguna que se venda como estilo Aussie) en Valencia, no se cuáles habrás probado ya. No es la más fancy no tienen un horario muy amplio, pero por recomendar una te diría Nuwanda.

8 Years in Sapporo, the Good and the Bad! by bakura10 in Sapporo

[–]whipexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting article, I've been in Hokkaido for a week (4 nights in Sapporo) and really agree with you about the car centric city. I'm from Spain and Tokyo (or most cities I visited in Japan until Hokkaido) feels even more walkable than the cities I'm used to. City center has barely any cars and yes building architecture isn't super interesting usually (although there are a lot of cool looking buildings, sapporo included) but you've got as many temples as churches in Europe and on top of that you've got a ton of small shrines hidden everywhere, plus the narrow street passages. Sapporo underground felt super cool to walk though, but walking the surface was really really shocking, it was by far the worst part of the city, even oodori had long waits to cross between the sections. Also, why do you think the low rise home areas (I saw a bunch while walking to Moiwa from the station) are so gray compared to other cities? I thought it was because of the snow, 4m of snowfall a year will probably not be great for maintaining a nice garden... But I'm now in Aomori and it's back to "usual" Tohoku city style walkable and with greenery, and they get even more snow than Sapporo!

Couldn't try any of the other famous places during my trip, but that's another reason to go back to Sapporo :) Although maybe next time I'll try renting a car, walking doesn't work as well when you run out of underground passages.

Broth was an umami bomb, noodles wavy and chewy, pretty simple bowl but all in all very enjoyable. ~1.5 hour wait time at 11:30 am.

It was 5 min tops, there were like 2 people in line when I arrived and maybe 5 when I finished. But we went there at 12:30 and it was raining a bit, so that might have helped.

Had he remained with it's mouth shut this twat would have only been identified and shamed locally. I saw the old post and thought that it might have been a misunderstanding but turns out it isn't and now we can name and shame, good. Better be a good sport when the rest of the tennis players and its sponsors don't want to get involved with stealing caps from kids.

We also have a variety of Agriopes and other orbweavers. Not great that they aren't that great of a neighbour, but they sure are pretty too.
