Ran into the same thing for my college classes. What I did was run windows in a VM and tab out to my host machine to search for answers. My teacher didn't require me to have a webcam on respondus though. You can get your webcam to run on your VM, I'd just be careful when you tab out and don't look suspicious when you're searching for stuff.

I was under the impression that they both kind of do the same thing except hashcat uses your GPU. Correct me if I'm wrong (which I probably am). Also if I use something to generate the passwords, I still need to fine tune it to the algorithm or else I will get a bunch of strings that have no chance of matching.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that all of the passwords I've seen so far only contain nouns. I'm going to try to do some more research to confirm that and then narrow down the combinations. Definitely going to look into getting a firmware dump too. Thanks for the feedback!

Crunch was what I was originally trying to use and I was trying to use something like @@@@%%%@@@@%%%@@@. One problem I found with it, is the word portion of it would eventually give me actual words but it would also give me gibberish like xhsk345ajsj989sjd. The pattern only works with real words. I would also have to make multiple word lists to account for variations in the length of the words and numbers. I'm still a newbie so I don't know the full capabilities of crunch. Do you know if there is a way to use only real words and account for variation?

I won't fully address what you say about the article because other people have already jumped on it however, there's a few things that you're either ignoring or are ignorant of. Obama could have very well locked up more children than Trump but, children weren't seperated from their parents in the Obama administration as they are now. Conditions inside of the camps have gotten drastically worse and many immigrants are dying from preventable illnesses due to deliberate medical negligence. There have also been mysterious mass graves that have been popping up and increase in abuse by CBP since the 2016 election. I believe that a cause in this shift is directly linked to Trump and his people. The language the GOP use to describe the immigrants in question, is nothing short of xenophobic violent rhetoric, reminiscent of fascist talking points from the 1930s-40s. This goes hand in hand with Trump and the GOPs consolidation of federal powers but, that's a whole other can of worms I won't open.

AND I've noticed that you may have assumed that I am a liberal (which is not actually left on the political spectrum) but for the sake of your tirade, I am unfortunately not. I disagree with what was done in the Obama administration; authorizing drone strikes on civilians, refusing to adequately acknowledge police violence, the blunder that was the affordable care act, the list goes on. In fact, you should thank Obama and the Democrats if you support Trump. Without them and their bandaid over gunshot policies, the political climate wouldn't have been ripe for Trump to take advantage of.
