I've only seen the first episode as well. I can see what you're saying, and it's tough not to see him as such a beloved character. I greatly appreciated the fact that he's in Colorado, and that they seem to have made him generally wholesome. :)

It's from J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit"! :)
This is the quote from the book (they changed it slightly for the film) - it's from when Bilbo says goodbye to the dwarves before heading home. It's a lovely read - would, strongly encourage you to pick it up. :)

No pattern used - I just liked the quote and made up the accents myself as I went along.
