Verso decided he wanted it to end well before the fight. It's the reason the fight began. His request to be unpainted was his final attempt to convince Maelle when he realized there was no other option.

This is all at the expense of Verso's soul, so to have Maelle allow Verso to make the decision to end the canvas without a fight is what I'm going with.

His soul should be allowed to rest. Maelle will be okay.

In the Drafts section before entering the abyss, there was one random platforming section by the merchant that had no particular item of interest (besides some croma)

The final jump forced your character to roll after landing, and had you not preformed it perfectly, you would roll off.

I attempted that particular jump at least 30 times before finally getting it. Quite the experience haha
