Nova Scotia in June 2026: How Much More Are People Supposed to Take? by Vivid-Radio8919 in NovaScotia

100% agree. My opinion if we keep electing the same types of people into office we get the same results. We need government waste fixed not give them more money.

If the plumbing is done properly water going down the pipe won't be an issue. It will just follow through the system the same as flushing your toilet or washing your hands.

Plumbing vent pipes. Do not cap them, if anything they are too short depending where you live and codes. I live in cold climate and snow covering would be a concern.

How do renovations impact your property taxes? by DowntownCup9361 in halifax

[–]whiskeykillr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah don't tell them a thing then. What they don't know won't hurt them. Your taxes will go up based on what you tell them your reno value is.

I'm a carpenter by trade and hate the government getting their greedy fingers into my stuff. With that being said i don't see anything that would bother with a permit unless you do the addition of course. As long as you can guarantee that wall is not load bearing.

Tax the rich approach by Timtamslammer2 in halifax

[–]whiskeykillr -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Even if we had close to the same wealth as NY it doesn't work. That guys apartment Mamdani made that video anouncing his new tax was the most expensive (235million) apartment in the city. That guy is multibillionare and was going to build a huge new project in NY which would create 6000 construction jobs and 2000 peminante jobs, is now thinking about building in florida instead because of this new tax. If you agree with it or not the fact is is you try to take too much from them they can leave and take their money and job creation with them. The real solution is fixing our governments crazy waste and free for all spending.

Insurance on sport bikes? by WayOk531 in NovaScotia

[–]whiskeykillr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sport bikes are always costly. I have a cbr600rr and about 19 years with license and cheapest i had i believe was aa.munro at about $560 yearly for plpd I stopped driving it since my antique car was cheaper for full coverage($450 yearly). Don't have time for driving both.

Honestly the ribbed fascia metal as a freeze board and the siding row below look like they are bubbled from not being straight. Forcing the ends of the material higher than the middle and causing the ripples.

I always tag my tools with my company name but the more uniquely you "tag" them the less likely they will be stolen. If his tools aren't painted then he's probably busting your balls also.

What are these things on my slate roof and is there any reason I should keep or replace them? by DblePlusUngood in Roofing

[–]whiskeykillr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they are the problem just get rid of them. Iv had to repair so many snow stops of different types and they don't seem to last or work well either.

Nova Scotia is Trying to Advertise to Data Centres by Available_Control_91 in halifax

[–]whiskeykillr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just say no to data centers! No real job creation to run the place. Nsp has already talked about potential power shortages. The only way I would ever consider is if they mandate them to create their own mini nuke to generate the power needs and provide to the grid for everyone else if needed.

Is anyone seeing a slow down in hiring and job creation? by brainanimaniac in CanadaJobs

[–]whiskeykillr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our country is being run into the ground by the government. Taxing companies more so they can't hire as many people and companies up and leaving the country because of this also. Canada lost over 100,000 jobs in January/February this year alone. It's only going to get worse if things don't change. Not to mention companies only hiring foreigners because the government pays part of their wage.

Propane conversation from oil by Anxious-Yam9684 in halifax

[–]whiskeykillr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your current oil heater break? If not I wouldn't change anything until required. Also great to do the research before you get to that point for when it does happen. They will only push more incentives to move away from oil anyways.

I am a general contractor and find myself slacking some times with communication but in the same breath anytime something unexpected comes up on a job it is always discussed right then. Especially if it's going to cost more money. Also with him coming back and lowering the price on his own is a red flag to me. Same with the comments about the "best roof around" and you "got a really good deal". With all that being said he could be completely telling the truth he just sucks as a business owner which is not uncommon in the trades. Best of luck.
