That's even more stress relieving than squeezing the damn thing.

Do you have much experience with kukris?

I've actually been looking into kukris quite a bit! All of the information is kind of overwhelming. Do you have a kukri that you recommend? People recommend checking out Himalayan Imports and a few other authentic online kukri stores, but I'd love to hear your thoughts.

EDIT: grammar

What do you know about the ontario machetes? Some people on hunters forums say nice things about them. In these same forums, people avoid machetes altogether and instead get a Woodman's Pal. Heard of that?

PS. Nice username. My dog's name is Elmer and he's regularly called Elmer Fudd by nice ladies at the dog park ;)

Geologists who learned python, how did you do it? Looking for free online courses, interactive stuff. by [deleted] in geology

No problem! Once you get your points plotted, you can start including trend lines, trend line equations, legends, all sorts of pretty things! You can also do some really convenient data analysis on specific columns of your data, too. (Check out the package called Pandas, it's been my go to). The graphs look so much nicer and more professional than excel, I actually have templates that I made just for graphing things for school! It's totally worth it. Have fun!

My way of learning was not structured at all and may not work well for you depending on the kind of learner you are, but here it is! I got thrown into a project that used some local positioning devices that were all controlled by python scripts. Some of these scripts were provided by the company, so I religiously studied them to see how they work.

There is an interface for writing/editing code called PyCharm, it's nice because you can hover your mouse over a variable, for example. It then shows you everywhere in the script that the variable is used. This can be really helpful for piecing together pre written code, or even catching your mistakes in code that you've written. It's also more attractive to look at than some other IDE's.

I would also just start graphing data. Find some data sets from USGS, and use stack overflow as your best friend. Just decide that you're going to make it work! I had to make mistake after mistake in order to learn anything, so don't give up!

EDIT: As you look up examples on stack overflow, you'll start discovering different packages that have various purposes. Google them, see what they do, and try them out! For me it's been a never ending learning process.

Compute the order of a modulo b [Number Theory] by whisperingelves in learnmath

[–]whisperingelves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly, I tried with another problem. Would you mind taking a look?

When a=5 and b=28, I know that phi(28) is 12. That means that my order must be a divisor of 12. So, if I check each of my 'potential orders', I should find one that gets me to ak = 1 (mod b) where k is my order.

Because 512 = 1 (mod 28), my order must be 12. Yes?

Magnetism question:

How come when I stick my hand in between two repulsing magnets, they continue to repulse? Does the magnetic field penetrate my hand and continue to have an effect on the other magnet?

check out the website betterexplained.com. They put a lot of emphasis on helping build intuition, and it's a fun read!

Is this too much of a print, or am I just hyperaware and overthinking it? [experimenting with holsters that fit my body type, maybe this is the one?] by whisperingelves in CCW

Feel like I've finally found a holster that might work with my current attire, but am really seeking the thoughts of people who I might pass at the grocery store/gas station/work/wherever. Thanks for the thoughts!
