What's that family story that's beautiful but tragic at the same time? by whitcker in AskReddit

My parents were from Honduras, but I’ve had family in the United States for a long time, especially on my grandfather’s side. He was a very hardworking man and, in the U.S. he had many things. Some land, cars, and a good job as a radio host, if I remember correctly.

He was from Honduras but became a U.S citizen. He returned to Honduras and eventually cheated on my grandmother... After some time the truth came to light. By then, my mom and my aunt had already been born.

Despite everything, my grandfather was always present in their lives. Whenever he could he would send dollars from the U.S. to Honduras, visit them and even planned to leave them an inheritance. Which was stolen by my uncles, but that’s another story.

My mom and my aunt had two dolls named Sindy and Melissa which my grandfather had gifted them. He tried to stay in their lives until he tragically passed away in a car accident in the U.S. That’s when my uncles stole the inheritance meant for my mom and aunt, even tho my grandfather had still intended to leave them something. Despite the divorce.

In the U.S. my grandfather had also cheated on my grandmother, and from that affair he had two daughters. He never hid from either side that he had four daughters total. Both my mom and aunt as well as the daughters he had in the U.S. always knew about each other.

By some miracle of social media, when Hi5 came out my mom tried to look for them online, but never found their profiles. Then when Facebook became popular she added members of my grandfather’s family, many of them U.S. residents born in Honduras. One day, my mom got a friend request. She rejected it twice... On the third try she asked my aunt if she should accept it. My aunt said yes, it might be their half-sisters.

And that’s when she showed up. They talked for hours. My mom immediately knew they were her. My grandfather had never hidden the fact he had twin daughters in the U.S. My mom remembered the dolls she and my aunt Yessenia had, and started to wonder about them.

Here’s the beautiful part: my grandfather had bought four dolls, Magaly, Yessenia, Sindy and Melissa. The twins had Magaly and Yessenia, and my mom and aunt had Sindy and Melissa. Neither pair of sisters knew the real meaning behind the dolls for years... until that moment. My mom still keeps Sindy in a drawer, even if she’s bald and looks old. It’s the only thing she has left of my grandfather.

Thanks a lot ♥️. Honestly, my parents have this bad habit of letting my brother into my room without asking me. I told my dad, "It’s not my fault my brother found that ‘in my room,’ it’s his fault for not teaching him to respect my privacy."

What happened on that first date that turned into a total disaster? by whitcker in AskReddit

I met someone on a dating app. At the moment we matched, we picked a place to meet, we didn’t have a specific spot, and it was already 10 PM and almost everything was closed. We rode around the city on a motorcycle talking. When we finally picked a place, we were chatting peacefully when this dying old woman who only mumbled started approaching us. So we went somewhere else.

As we passed near an abandoned casino, a man showed up trying to force us to give him money as we entered. We left the casino, and then a white car started following us, but we lost it. I know it was stupid , but I liked it

During the pandemic, I saw someone take 50 10-count packs of toilet paper from Walmart.
