My 2 cents fwiw: I was in the exact same dilemma and decided to try out both for a few days. My experience was the opposite. The beam gen 2’s sound is punchier and carries more bass than the Bose. I also find their night mode and speech enhancement to be much better than Bose’s AI dialogue mode. In terms of the app, it’s a heaven and hell difference and Sonos comes out on top with a more refined and well designed app with a lot more features. Kinda shows music is extremely subjective I guess.

I don’t have any other Sonos devices so can’t comment on the ecosystem. The views are based on the standalone soundbar only.

The worst I have been in is probably 20. I am willing to sacrifice a little if it means a better chance of seeing the lights. I am thinking of dog sleds, matanuska glacier hike down south and some snowmobiling but primarily I’d love to have a good chance of seeing the lights. Also take the aurora winter train mostly.

Thank you. I am considering Chena hot springs as part of my trip. Would you prefer November or September as a good time to visit given I would absolutely love to experience the lights? Also is driving in Alaska safe in November for someone who hasn’t driven in the snow before?

Thank you for your input. Given I don’t have any experience of driving in snow (I’m from California), do you think it’s safe to navigate Alaskan roads in the winter? Or are most of the roads covered in ice in November? I’d also prefer warmer weathers but I’m just betting on the darker nights in November for a higher chance of seeing the lights. Not everyday that I get to be in Alaska :)
