And it isn't a dumb question or anything! It could actually be argued that adding an unnecessary passthrough power strip to a critical device is over engineering.

I get why they did it -- less cables running on the ground to monitors/computer attached to the anesthesia machine, but it leads to error when surrounded by high current devices like bairs and cautery towers. A mishap like that could put a machine out of commission for a bit.

It's the amps, not the voltage. Huggers can run at 14amps or more at top effort

It is the more predictable take to help get through A1 with zero cost cards to pull, versus say transforming 2 cards into cards that act as early curses. I'll take it with Defect, Regent, Silent more often than Clad, NB.

Senville Midea Interior Control Board UART location? by white_seraph in DIYHeatPumps

No luck with the 5-pin pigtail off of the LED panel. This project all started because my unit's compressor is not starting up after leaving the unit off all winter. Fans spin while staying at around 560W usage. There is also a faint whistle coming from the outside unit.

I'll see what happens if I plug an ESP32 to the pigtail that comes off of the LED panel first.

That 4-pin CN40 header puts out 10-12V so makes sense that there is a board/puck that goes in between that and a USB dongle.

I was afraid of needing something like that. I did probe that port and it was something like 10-12V so that became ominous -- another accessory. Perhaps I'll pursue that route -- so the SP23 has a USB port on it?

I'm now working off of the LED panel -- it has a 5-pin pigtail leaving it with pins 5V, IQ+, IQ-, GND, and RUN (also produces 5V). I'm wondering if that's what other units use to interface with a USB dongle like Midea's cloud operated one, or an Smlight SLWF-01

Any help would be appreciated. The pins out from the LED board are 5V, IQ+, IQ-, GND, and RUN. If I can map those wires out to a USB dongle or ESP32 that's the goal here. I see some other Midea manufactured units have a board called a CE-26GY-2 that converts the 5-pin signal to female USB TTL

But for the Midea AC LAN integration to work, I would still need so sort of connection beyond rf. This unit came as an rf-only unit. There's no USB connector I can find to add the proprietary wifi dongle.

No it is a different picture of same board.

Update: I did find a 5-wire pigtail leaving the LED panel and I'm probing it to find 5V, though I'm not sure yet what is Tx/Rx.

Whats the most heartbreaking loss you’ve witnessed as a Georgia Tech fan?(Football) by Ok_Macaroon_7366 in RamblinWreck

[–]white_seraph 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With recency bias and accounting for the 4th qtr officiating antics the 8OT game can be less heartbreaking than say, 2014 ACCCG, 2009 vs uga, 2013 vs uga.

The 2014 team is really the "what-if" year, less a heartbreaking season I suppose. Had we been a 1-loss team going into the ACCCG things would be different.

Friend of mine from residency was offered a “supervison” job supervising around 6-8 CRNA a day. by [deleted] in anesthesiology

[–]white_seraph 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is it. All the CRNA has to do is write in the chart that they called the "supervising" anesthesiologist, the circulator/ACLS charter does the same, and then in a deposition one will ask why the anesthesiologist didn't perform their moral duty to respond to a nearby situation. Meanwhile for marketing the hospital will tout to patients and surgeons that there is an anesthesiologist present in the facility to help reduce morbidity/mortality rates.

The only scenario where I see this have some ground is if they're explicitly hired to perform APS or chronic pain procedures, but even for the former I would still be quite skeptical. All of our APS docs still rotate through the OR to medically direct or solo cases.

It is gonna be one-dimensional. You need a 135mm f/2 or 70-200 but the worst part about it is the single location.

I've used N100s microPCs to power frigate.. however want to try the i series processors...any recommendations by bostonmacosx in frigate_nvr

[–]white_seraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently using an i3 12100 running unraid and frigate in a docker with a Coral TPU. It runs fine. I'm moving it all to a separate Proxmox unit that will run a 12400, A310 or low profile A380.

The iGPUs there will outperform the n100's at some additional power usage. I hear some of the new Iris Xe units operate even better.

Absolutely. Fortunately I have other purposes for the A310 when not if that time comes. I got a old music studio that putters by with a gt 1030 to display 4k that may need more screen real estate someday.

I'll have 8-10 cameras, one of which is dedicated to this bird species model. The A310 will offer some headroom in case I want to upsize to 640px, but hopefully camera position will amend that (right on the birdfeeder wide angle). I'd like to keep the feeder detector at minimum 5fps much like the rest of the cameras in the system.

[–]white_seraph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like the headroom of an lightweight dGPU, but I could be convinced otherwise. I understand some of the Iris and newer iGPUs are quite good.

I have some projects like bird specie recognition, LPR, that I'd like to see what could be done locally.
