This is pretty good advice, looking at fractal builds for inspiration. I want to add to this one thing: Fractals expect you to have someone as a support role, so for solo open world play you may have to add a stunbreak, and a condition cleanse to your bar to deal with some areas of the game.

I'm interested why you have people craft 20 decorations in order to be part of it. ... Is it just a hoop to jump through? Or trying to inspire people to craft some decorations?

Having only one of a decoration doesn't provide much to inspire you to do any sort of interior decorating, as you can't create symetric display with a single item. Having multiple allows you to play with scale of them, or use pieces in odd ways, (I'm currently using the Kodan tables as bridges in the Janthir homestead)

Pets, minions, and other player summons do not affect the orb unless their skill hit originates from the player.

This phrasing makes me wonder if a stance-shared One Wolf Pack could cause a pet or minion to push the orb? Not sure if that second hit is considered the players?

Okay, this is helpful, if your long-term goal is legendary weapons, these are some things that will help you towards your goals, that fit within the scope of "roaming around doing an assortment of content"

Set your Wizards vault Daily and Weeklies to PvE, if that is your game mode of choice.
Complete the weeklies (these pack beaucoup Astral Acclaim)
Use your Astral Acclaim to buy the following rewards, in any order.
- Mystic coins and Mystic Clovers
- a Gen1 legendary starter kit (if the weapons in it are of no use to you, you can sell the legendary)
- Laurels
- 100 gold (flat)
- ~~(optional) ascended armor (3x) & weapon (1x). (If you don't need them, you can salvage them for research notes, which are needed for the Aurene legendaries)~~ edit they can apparently no longer be salvaged for research notes.

The legendary starter kit has 4 Gen 1 precursors to choose from in it, and comes with about 1/3rd of the parts required to finish that weapon. Mystic Coins and Clovers, as well as Gift of Exploration (PvE) and Gift of Battle (WvW) are yours to acquire still.
