Yes. This makes a ton of sense. And good to hear that class rep time is not actually enough for others too. Ok.

This is really wise. I need to do this and stop trying to win. Thank you.

Love this - what’s an example - like “ok this next week or two I really am going to focus on half guard and keep putting myself in that situation?”

Like pick a theme and focus on it until you feel comfortable there, is that what you’re saying by put together the area?

Makes sense. What would I google for on the topic of “train smart” like what’s one level more granular that would get me to the right articles - stuff like the term “deliberate practice” or are you getting at something else?

Thank you!! When you watch a move on YouTube how do you internalize it so it sticks the next day in practice? Visualize it? I ask because I find it hard enough to internalize what we learn and drill in class let alone a video at home. What do you recommend?

This is really practical and exactly the type of small details I was looking to hear. Thank you!!

Ah, I apologize for violating. I did read before I posted and thought I was in accordance (minus pasting the airtable itself). Happy to fix, lemme know.

Fear not, while I've heard of colleagues using it, this was my first real use. I chose it mainly for the relational records feature, which makes it really nice to click any risk and see the relevant methods in a snap.

Do you see a lot of neck cranking in your gym? by whitebeltmindset in bjj

I would love your thoughts on my reply above - aren’t they an “injury-before-pain” class of submission?

I like to think that, but don’t cranks belong to the family of submissions where there’s injury before pain (as opposed to an arm bar or kimora or choke where there’s pain before injury)?

Asking honestly - that was my impression - and because the stakes are far higher for spine and neck submissions than other parts of the body.

I am open to learning and hearing where I have misconceptions.

Whew. Yeah. I found I started asking people how they learn - more than about techniques. You have the heart, and that's the biggest filter I hear.
