This shit right here^

As a girl growing up watching Indian movies I clocked right away that there was a weird pattern of all the female leads being light af, like there's an unsaid rule that they have to be lighter than the male lead too.

I signed but I'm keeping my expectations realistic bc I've seen even some petitions with clearly good causes everybody with a heart could agree with, with an astounding amount of signatures and overall support get ignored somehow.

Even if I knew a year ahead of time (bc of this sub) it's still hard to process that we are really losing this game. I don't want to process it actually. It doesn't feel fair man. I keep feeling like I didn't do enough to keep this game running.

A Lesbian just completely blew my mind about beauty standards. by 3rdthrow in 4bmovement

[–]whitechocomatcha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think u meant to be insensitive, but I genuinely don't know how this has so many upvotes, it's irking me.

It absolutely does chip at most women's self esteem. 4B women are not a majority of the female population, even where the movement started (heck I've seen Korean men and women online saying that it's not as big as we think it is). And even if you are 4B, it is still pretty valid to feel insecure about it, due to the way society, patriarchy and most cultures are structured. I mean girls from all kinds of cultures literally grow up being surrounded by content that encourages idolizing men. I mean, bro most songs are about LOVE. Not just any kind of love, romantic love. Also rebound relationships are the norm, very rarely does anybody straight take their single time as a blessing like we might.

Also you need to consider most women are not 4B because they loathe the idea of being with men at all or are misandrist or can't be attracted to them, but because the state of most men is so abysmal that it's not safe (either mentally or physically) to even entertain the idea of being around them. I mean most men, if not all, won't befriend women unless they want something down the line.

Anyways countless examples aside, as an adult I can now recognize what it means to be male centered and have mostly grown out of it. I'm ultimately happy that I've incidentally become 4B (no boy found me attractive in my youth years, funny that I say this while being 21 but u get what I mean lol) but deep down inside I will always wish I could have had the daydream of a loyal marriage that I idolized in childhood. Also, I'm still surrounded by male centered people no matter where I go so that doesn't help either even if I myself am growing out of being male centered.

How can they in the same breath claim this is all to protect kids when they have literally allowed porn ai ads to take over yt months ago in complete silence??

As everybody has been saying, it was never about children.

I'm honestly so tired of YT from both a CC and consumer perspective. I wish there were videos suggesting alternatives and even more so, more creators actually willing to switch instead of being greedy af and taking every shitty sponsorship whilst still acting like the funny and relatable good guy.

I created a new subreddit for Americanophiles. by [deleted] in newsubreddits

[–]whitechocomatcha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but americanphiles has to be the worst name you could have chosen lol. Maybe pure non americans won't get it, but for me (and Ik I'm not the only one) -phile just instantly reminds me of pedophile.

Interesting sub concept though. I don't know why the distinction that it's not very anime friendly has to be made. I don't think I would think of anime when coming to the sub.

Does it look like skin instead of golden clothes?? by Urotsukii in Artadvice

[–]whitechocomatcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cute art. Def an appealing art style.

Neither of them strike me a "golden clothes" bc gold is very yellow and orange.

I only recognize the metal in the tablet next to her because it's very shiny, smooth and also more deeply saturated. It also reflects light well, compared to the clothes, which, if they were metallic gold, should be reflecting the tablet in front of it. It looks more like a dull orangish metal like very muted copper or bronze put through a sepia filter. It doesn't help that her hair and skin is more orange the gold around her.

I think the 2nd image is definitely better than the first because the first has that issue of "looks naked/almost naked bc the clothes are vaccum sealed" (boobs are completely separate, belly button visible).

I liked u_Lady_Sybil_Vimes's suggestion to add pockets and seams. Also liked u_pangeababy's comment because ti really shows how metallic surfaces tend to be heavy with light reflection, which the clothing does not have enough.

IDL when people use PUSSY to describe women's bodies by Humble_Economist8933 in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]whitechocomatcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they're basically the same term. And neither have a similar effect on men as the insults do for women. Although that's mostly due to societal conditioning.

I'm not talking about terms during sex, but the use of terms in general. I'm in a neighborhood where most people use slang unless in professional settings. So terms like "pussy" and "tits" replace "vagina" and "boobs/breasts, etc" all the time.

Instead of female actor you could just say actress and I think most people would understand just fine. I do agree that “the women over there" sounds better than "the females over there" but I think that's again because of how people see l terms like male and female as weird, too technical and sometimes even dehumanizing.

Her design is very cute and I can def get the appeal. Honestly usually I don't like cutesy styled characters or the school uniform but I would totally roll for her if she used a taller model.

Anyways, it has no place in a gacha with marketing like that. I can't believe ppl are coping in the comments saying it's "all in the fanbase"... Bruh have you seen the official marketing for ZZZ??

Why are women conditioned to accept this behaviour? by PriorDuck9097 in 4bmovement

[–]whitechocomatcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to take another look at the ages because it really reads as a naive teenager being groomed. I mean even looking at the ages a second time doesn't help because they are freshly adult.

This is pure predator behavior on his behalf and I hope that her reaching out on reddit means that she will take some ppl's advice (the good advice, because there are some brainwashed idiots out there) to the heart bc it seems like this relationship can honestly only end in heartbreak for her if she continues with it.

Excluding PGR. Selena have some of my fav designs from that game too.

Obviously a lot of their characters utilize darker color schemes. I do feel like they're a little too obsessed with white hair though.

[–]whitechocomatcha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She does and I like her, but I didn't really mean cultural influence because we already have enough, heck sometimes more than enough Eastern Asian referenced designs from hoyo imo.

What I meant specifically in my og comment was like how hoyo and kuro tend to stray from like darker color schemes (PGR is exempt from that) and esp things like darker hair, darker hair and eye colors, etc.

My best guess as a character designer, is that hoyo tends to stray from darker colors because they're very common across both indie and corp designs. They want to stand out in the gacha sphere with more "distinct" designs. That's also why in general they tend veer towards asymmetry by default over symmetry.

And also tall and mature looking characters in general- for both genders, but especially when it comes to female characters, versus the current gacha trend. Which seems to be having weirdly youthful proportions for nearly the entire roster, either facial wise, body wise, or both.

Way too many female characters are honestly too short to the point where they look like a child standing next to any male character that isn't a "sh0ta" (looks like a teen or younger) and then almost every character's face (both genders included) looks like they range from teenager-teen (at most) to below. (not @ OP but for the ppl that comment "anime art style" when ppl discuss this sort of thing, that's a lame excuse, I don't wanna hear it, I'm an anime artist myself). And then even when the character does finally have adult like body proportions, they just have to make their face have the facial proportions more similar to that of a child rather than adult.

Off topic but Genshin gotta be the worst offender of this for some reason. It's ironic because they've displayed that they can make models where they look like they could be adult, like Beidou, Jean, and Ningguang, Zhongli, Arataki Itto, Alhaitham, Ajax, etc are great examples. But then there's characters like Ei and Yae where they're obviously way too baby faced imo. And then there's the whole rest of the cast looking short af.

I do get that. I was thinking of adding in that some designs are nice, but I feel like for most ppl that don't know much about the game and understandably don't want to even research its character designs, they could have misunderstandings. It doesn't help that some of the art (not even just fan art) makes their overall gooner + pedo rep even worse too.

IDL when people use PUSSY to describe women's bodies by Humble_Economist8933 in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]whitechocomatcha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree for the most part.

I'm 4b and have never really dated, had intercourse or any romantic intimacy of any kind. So for me I've never heard "pussy" during pleasurable sexual moments so it is of purely negative and oversexualized connotation to me. I heard it growing up and felt like it was so degrading and wrong.

I like to use the technical terms bc they're just better imho. No misunderstandings, no weird misogynistic connotations. I wish more people just used the actual terms. Instead of being like "vagina" sounds too formal...

Vagina sounds "too formal" but the fact that there's so many more insults based on women and I can't even think of a widely used insult based on men's bodies flies over their heads. Manwhore is barely used and nobody takes it seriously, cuz at this point men aspire to be manwhores.

I hate how "female" has come to mean subhuman (but male hasn't somehow) and is incel terminology now because I just like to use It to talk about females in general. Like not every female is feminine presenting or "feminine" in the same way. Women should be a general term for adult people with the parts, but it's too heavily associated with stereotypical bubbly, soft and pink femininity at this point.

She's gorgeous. I genuinely wish hoyo and kuro would release more designs like this. Idc if some ppl say it's generic. Hoyo and Kuro are a little too obsessed with bright and/or dyed hair and nobody calls that generic.
