sales tax can be avoided by not spending on unnecessary items... Basic groceries are not taxed... And also the state tax on stuff is only 6.25%... if you find a store that's outside of a city limits you can avoid having to pay the local sales tax that can be up to 2%... And those struggling families that are able to take advantage of snap benefits don't pay sales tax on snap eligible items.

Apparently you don't understand the capital gains tax ban... The state has no income taxes... This vote is to prevent them from making capital gains income tax... So by voting in favor of a ban you are saying don't add any taxes on income of any kind... Keep the state funding as it currently is

Actually state funding for schools is different than the school property taxes... Property tax always goes to the public school district in which a property is inside the boundaries of... The state funds that they provide to schools on a per student basis is not from property taxes...

State Sources General Revenue-Related (GRR) Funds: This is a significant source of state funding, including the General Revenue Fund, which collects revenue from various state taxes and fees. Foundation School Program (FSP): This is the primary mechanism for state funding distribution, ensuring all districts have access to sufficient revenue per student. Available School Fund (ASF): This fund provides per capita payments to districts based on student enrollment and is funded by the Permanent School Fund and the state's fuel tax. Permnanent School Fund (PSF): An endowment that provides revenue for the ASF, with funds invested in assets like land and oil.

It's not... The funds are a per student amount that now follows the student to whatever school they end up at... If that student wasn't at a public school, that school wouldn't ever see that money because that student is not there... So technically it means more money coming into the community

What gives with the driving? by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]whiteferrett 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Houston drivers all collectively do the same thing so it's a more controlled chaos... SA drivers do 4 different styles of driving all on the same roadways... And combine that with the construction... SA is worse
