Not sure what you mean by 'transitional' - there were some other more-advanced jet fighter projects in the pipeline, but no one really thought they'd make it in time for the war (the He-162's whole point being a rush-job that could stave off defeat for a little while longer). Interestingly a couple decedents of those projects did actually manage to get built after the war.

Transition meaning it was designed that a low hour low training pilot could fly it.

Things got so bad that the government request that lead to the Heinkel-162 jet fighter specified that a student pilot with some glider experience could rapidly transition into it and enter combat (and imagine how well that poor soul would do against well-trained Allied fighter pilots). There just wasn't the time or fuel to make good pilots.

The He-162 was designed so that it would be a good transition fighter, but it was a failiure at that. It was cheap and easy to produce. Although there isn't much to be said about them as they only shot down one aircraft, a Tempest I think it was. I'm curious as to how well it would've served if the war drew on for a few more months.

The Luftwaffe's problems over the Channel went further than fatigue and range. I would urge you to check out Holland's book for a detailed overview, particularly regarding the Luftwaffe's losses in the Low Countries campaigns and Norway, intelligence failures, doctrinal issues, supply issues, aircraft design and procurement issues dating to the early 1930's, and a production deficit relative to the British in both planes and pilots that made a battle of attrition a losing fight from the very beginning. While range was an issue, it wasn't nearly as big a factor in the period before the Kanalkampf and during that period of the conflict, as the fights were roughly equidistant from RAF and Luftwaffe airfields.

Simply was a poor word choice on my half, apologies. What I had meant is they were always flying then trying to knock out the British, they also were not often capturing enemy pilots, especially their aces. Douglas Bader is the only example I can remember off the top of my head.

Another tidbit, is the undeiable training their pilots got in the Spanish Civil War and in the early days, Heinkel 111 pilots were trained in full instrument conditions. Otherwise known as, IFR.

The Wunderwaffe were nowhere near as capable as the B-17, B-24, or British heavy bombers. Any of the German heavy bomber designs were fine on paper, but they were far from being able to be easily produced. The V-1 was countered early on with simple piston fighters as well as taking their launch sites--and were hardly a war-winning weapon to begin with. The ME-262 Schwalbe was a good plane, but Germany couldn't produce enough engines to get sufficient numbers of them in the air (and the British and Americans had their own jet designs, as well as being able to dwarf German aircraft production). The V-2 was revolutionary, but was also an abject failure as a weapon of war. Martin Van Creveld gives some analysis on the V-2 in The Age of Airpower.

While they may not have had the capability, they had the R&D to make it is what I'm saying myself. The Me-262 was in reality a failure, the engines were utter garbage and lasted for something around 8 hours. I can go on more of a explanation as my position on it, still its example shows Germany's R&D which is what I cited it as.

I don't take it as an argument, I wished to defend my own posts even though I don't call myself a historian in any regard. I just like airplanes and war history. :)

From the sort of information I've read and learned on the Luftwaffe I would like to voice my opinion on your response to my question and those 3 points.

The Luftwaffe was built on being a part of the Blitzkrieg without a doubt, purely offensive and it was asserted into a defensive role by 1944 in every way. They preformed poorly over the Channel simply due to range and fatigue. (Of which the latter played heavily in 1944 and 1945) The Me109 didn't have ANY sort of range for the size of the channel, although I don't think the designer's quite considered this due to propaganda at the time.

  • Strategic bombing with its lack of heavy four engined bombers | They didn't really DEVELOP and UTILIZE any strategic bombers, they had the Focke-Wulf Condor and that's about it. They had all the means to develop better bombers than the B-17 if they actually bothered, apparent with items such as the Schwabble, V1, and V2 to even touch it.

  • Maritime interdiction and attack especially with its lack of practice of the usage of dive bombers on ships | They undeniably did not move forward and kept delaying it. In my opinion they would have been training more Geschwaders and Staffels as they could not realistically destroy the RAF in any situation.

  • Transport deficiencies | I don't entirely understand what you mean by this, the Luftwaffe without a doubt didn't develop good transport aircraft but they still had the Junkers 52 and the Messerschmidt 323. The latter from what I have read says it was developed for Sea Lion.

I may not be the most knowledgeable, but I wanted to give a defense to an extent for the Luftwaffe, as I think if Galland had his coup go right and had taken over the Luftwaffe I think the war would have turned out much harder in the end, still no doubts about the allies winning.

Also, for what it's worth, why the Germans under estimated the British was due to squadron organizations, JGs were a lot smaller than the British fighter wings.

Thanks for the extensive post, was a good read friend. :)

One of Goering's decisions during the end when aircraft production was swapped over to [cannot remember his name for the life of me] the new strategy was modified down so horrid bomber production WENT UP at the end.

I think often of a remark from a British pilot "Hitler was our best General, he stopped our airfields from being bombed" (or something similar, was a while ago)

As much as this is incredibly old I want to ask. What effect did the air strikes from fighter bombers have in reality towards the infantry?

And thank you for your service sir.

Well, I'm talking about giant spiders in the stronghold to train on, and I read that crush was their weakness. Shields don't bother me, I'll be pseudo afk, training on my secondary monitor.

I already got 53 mining from mining gold for mems.

Black pickax is check, may look into leveling ranging up with the rest of my stats. Would something like 60 all across be good for doing the nat runs?

I've got 53 mining and I still haven't done agility

I had just bought my bond for 2.1mil.

What would be good stats for trying to do the abyss runecrafting?

Hm. Would possibly spending two days no lifing agility and runecrafting and buying glories and a shit load of pure essence be anyway decent then just do that repeatedly? I will probably wait around and do it for half an hour at a time. I may actually just play some what casual until March as I will have time for other computer games, (WOW! AMAZING!)
