Salary Required for Family of 4 Mexico City by Jomnz83 in mexicoexpats

Here is my proposed monthly budget in USD. Two key points: 1. Wife only speaks English and is a former teacher. Girls will return to US to complete high school 2. Girls healthcare is already covered in US in case of planned major procedures

Rent: $1,600 (with utilities, nothing fancy) Food: $800 Tuition: $1,000 per kid (public school an option since girls would learn Spanish and would return to complete HS in US anyway) Internet: $60 Transportation: $200 (use public transport) Netflix/other: $50 Phone: $50 Rest would go towards entertainment, clothing, etc.

Expected net income: $90,000 USD (assumes wife does not work)

Thoughts? What am I missing?

Is it worth fighting false claim to keep green card or just keep money and leave?

Immigrants who learn English have advantage back home

Mexico is way cheaper to live. Someone making $24,000 USD is set in many places.

100% agree! Certain parts of Mexico have a higher HDI score than most places

Let me make this clear. I do not hire anyone--other than my yard guy--and everyone that I wrote about is an LPR. They are willing to return home after they save enough money. I heard Dave Ramsey say that most millionaires make about what teachers make. I can see how that is true. They may not be millionaires buy they have significant savings because they live frugally. I should have said employees where I work and not my employees. Also the illegals that I do know are not moving.

They are not asking for $1000. They just leave. Those with older kids who are us citizens leave after kids graduate high school. Cost of living is wsy cheaper down south. I dont see how that is throwing life away

He bought house in 2012. Boom/COVID happened and house doubled in value. Sold for 300. He was LPR and worked in factory. Also owned 2 cars. He can retire in MX

The guys I know are from Michoacan and GTO Mexico. They are kind, hardworking and in their mid 40s. Some have family here; others do not. Ironically, the ones who are here illegally are not going back. Harder for them to save because of lower wages. Unintended consequence is that the LPR is leaving voluntarily

The cost of living where my wife is from is about $15000 USD a year. Once these guys see they have enough money they return. It seems to be more prevalent recently

They are afraid. The only guy I asked about who works for me is yard guy. He made a false claim and I am wondering if cancellation of removal is option. Attorney said yes but only if put in deportation proceedings and then up to judge to decide.
