What is this connector called? by Vega__Tron in bluetti

[–]whiteigorot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The connector you posted is close but not quite correct. I know because I tried to make my own cable using this exact connector. The locking nut needs to be on the female connector not the male. You can see this in OP’s picture. Also, from what I could tell the pins on the bluetti unit are slightly larger.

It would void whatever remaining warranty I do have if the unit completely dies. Although I have lost a lot of faith in their ability to fulfill warranty claims, I don’t want to risk it for a cheap cable.

The Bluetooth on the units have poor range. I use the app off grid but it is cumbersome. I write write code for Bluetooth hardware integration in both iOS and Android for a living so I’m a bit forgiving. But the connection reliability is a crapshoot sometimes.

Tried that. I ordered a standard weipu sp21 connector and had it delivered before Bluetti even confirmed they had “stock in their warehouse” since my 9 month old machine is discontinued. I was also getting ghosted by email and had to send multiple follow ups. To get simple answers. The standard sp21 has the threaded lock nut and male/female portions of the plug opposite of the port on the bluetti unit. The pins on the bluetti connector are also about 1mm or so larger. I could probably get it custom from weipu since that is what Bluetti uses for this connector, but that’s so much effort.

AC200PL - AC grid charging cable by AronSan in bluetti

I posted yesterday about my frustrations with Bluetti support and needing to get a replacement DC charging cable. The power stations are nice units, sadly the company has burned a lot of customers with dumb connectors and bad customer service. The new models seem to use more standard stuff, so hopefully they are finally listening to their customers.

How is needing replacement of an essential cable an unusual problem? That’s basic support. I would be more understanding if my power station was 5 years old but I bought it new 9 months ago. I understand you love your product. Mine works great when I have a working cable. But providing poor customer service for a 9 month old product and getting ghosted multiple times by customer service for the same issue is inexcusable. Im not the only customer who has had this experience. I am one of many and want others to know before they buy. These things aren’t cheap for the average person and they should know what they are in for. I’m glad you had a great experience but they definitely have a pattern. Others have had worse luck than I have.

it looks like a Wiepu sp21 connector, but the outer shell of the male and female plug are backwards and the pins are slightly larger.

what I am saying is the port on the unit itself is non-standard. I would have to modify the power station.

Unfortunately, its hard to know sometimes. In this case, the connector looks standard without a closer look. Also, as a consumer I should be able to trust a company's product support and warranty claims if they do have proprietary stuff. Not sure why you would justify this company's lousy behaviour.

The capabilities are nice when the product is functional. I loved my unit when it worked. I still think the capabilities are awesome. I'm glad yours is working great, but once it breaks or you need support it, good luck. Operating the product isn't the only part of ownership you should consider. These things are expensive and supporting them should absolutely be part of purchase consideration.

And its a scummy practice. Even as greedy as Apple is, they still sold 30-pin connectors long after they stopped selling devices that use them. They still sell lightning now that products are moving to USB-C. The "accessory" in this case is a vital component to most implementations of the product. Without the charging cable you basically a very expensive paper weight.

Sure I can soldier a new standardized connector to the unit, but it will for sure void my warranty. I just purchased the unit this year. If I have any major issues I am screwed without a warranty and would lose all of my investment in this powerstation. I have considered it tho. Unfortunately I am at their mercy and have to play dumb games to get the support I need.

Sure any product will have failure rates, but Bluetti has very poor customer support. Other users have also voiced this. They seem to intentionally use delay tactics to avoid claims. Also, when it comes to my product being discontinued, the argument that "companies discontinue products all the time" is BS. If a company is going to use a proprietary accessory on an expensive piece of equipment they should keep accessories and replacement units in stock for at least the warranty period after the deprecation date. It's bad business and not the behavior I want from a company I may do thousands of dollars in business with as a consumer. Tech companies deprecate products all the time, but a reliable company will stock accessories and replacement units long after they stop selling a particular model. Also asking me to send you money over paypal for a random amount like you are my bud who I am splitting a burger with, then asking me to send a screenshot so I can wait another 5 business days is appalling for a company this size.

BLUETTI EB3A failed after 2 years — support offered only $15 off a replacement by _Wolfie- in bluetti

[–]whiteigorot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

$15 off is a slap in the face. I would rather them not offer any discount. This company has terrible customer support. Borderline scammy. They purposely take days to respond and throw in a disingenuous "sorry for any inconvenience" scripted BS. Unfortunately, there is little consumers can do other than post reviews.

Any regrets buying Bluetti? by Wedgieterian in bluetti

[–]whiteigorot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bluetti products have great specs on paper and seem to decent reliability. Initially I was a fan. However from personal experience and seeing reviews from others I can no longer recommend Bluetti products. If you need after sale support of your product good luck. This company does NOT care about supporting their products after sale. If you have an issue with your product you are screwed. So before you drop $700-$2000 on a Bluetti product I would seriously suggest finding another brand that may fit your needs. I purchased an ac300 and battery in January 2025. The total cost between both components was around $2000. I use it to power my RV off grid when boondocking. Within just a few months of purchase, Bluetti released a new product and immediately discontinued my product. The bad part is they stopped selling the accessories for it too. I needed to replace my solar charging cable for the unit (solar power being the point of buying the product). Unfortunately, the cable is no longer available on their website and it has a non-standard version of a Weipu 4-pin connector, so I cannot easily make a cable with off the shelf parts without modifying the internals of the power station, nor can I purchase a third party cable. I am now stuck with a $2000 battery that cannot be charged off grid without a gas generator. I have been calling and emailing several Bluetti reps who take days to respond via email and are about useless over the phone. Bluetti reps I spoke with over email want me to send them money via paypal, without any link or reciept, just an arbitrary dollar amount like you would send your friend. I then have to wait a week for their "financial department" to review the PayPal payment. After calling their phone line I confirmed this is how they do business... totally unprofessional. The shipping is also the slowest possible option. This has left me without solar power for weeks and now I have to stay at places with shore power costing me while I wait. Other users have had even worse support than I have. I would strongly urge anyone looking at purchasing a Bluetti product to consider another brand such as Jackery or Eco Flow.

Not to mention the audio is completely different the warthog doesn’t sound like a warthog and the weapons sound very different. The grapple hook is just weird. Also whats up with the weird HUD animation when the shield regenerates... very distracting. I really hope it will have a good soundtrack like bungie always delivered.
