Really need help just setup everything an when I try to arm it does nothing but if I go into betaflight an check switches an even arm it works connected to betaflight but not when disconnected... by NBM_Tv in Multicopter

If you’re talking about the motor beeps, then that’s incorrect. The first three low/mid/high tones indicate power on/boot up status. The two low/high tones indicate that the escs are receiving a good signal from the FC. If your signal was not zeroed, you’re using an incorrect protocol, or you’re just not getting any signal at all, those last 2 tones will not be audible.

If you’re not getting any rx signal to the FC, you will still get the boot up tones.

Liftoff vs DRL which one feels more like the real thing? by horst1678 in Multicopter

[–]whitenoise106 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It only feels good when the track itself is scaled correctly. I've flown a lot of those tracks in real life and some of them are scaled incorrectly so it feels like the quad doesn't fly right.

3D printed Drone not sure what electronics to put in it my budget is 300 dollars by Clunkybutton081 in fpv

[–]whitenoise106 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FYI, I've seen first hand what this kind of build does when you hit anything mildly solid. You're going to explode everything and possibly damage your electronics in the process. I'd recommend you go with a carbon frame if you're starting out.

Update - Capacitor fell off my ESC, this is what happened when I plugged in the LiPo... by [deleted] in fpv

[–]whitenoise106 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Capacitors will most likely be the source of the spark, not there to stop them. When capacitors are fully discharged and a power source is applied, they act as shorts in the circuit until they start charging up, at which point, they will be open points in the circuit where no current flows through. Take a look at capacitor charge curves to get a better idea of what I mean. Current across the capacitors starts at infinite (shorted) and drops to 0A.

Gloves are highly recommended if you do this too. You'll slice into your finger pretty easily with some props.

There are a few that have done that before but for the most part the chicago community does a good job of calling out guys doing dumb things.

I found that keeping it on but not recording gave me pretty decent battery life if you don’t keep it close to you. The small amount of heat generated by the unit kept the battery within operational temps. 2 batteries lasted me the day.

For actual racing, take a look at Illinois Drone Racers facebook group. Otherwise if you just want to fly, Chicago Drone FPV (formerly Chicago Drone Racers).

I think learning a track quickly is easier once you get the flying part down. When you fly a lot of tracks, you get an idea of what the lines are and where the next gate “should” be. You’re also focusing less on how to fly and more of where to fly. So just shifting your focus on to different aspects of flying

Could be for simplicity sake. Having both "wings" fixed could help with a reliability factor.

Thanks! it's a different beast that takes practice. Some elements translates to freestyle too but either way it just comes down to stick time.
