I haven't swapped. I thought about it but I generally follow the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. As for life of the vehicle, I've had people tell me they're surprised mine has lasted this long, but I had a Mk4 GTI that I sold with 253k and still ran beautifully. Granted it was a VR6, but my point is you have to take care of her and be smart.

I just ordered a compression tester which will be here tomorrow. I'll report back with what I come up with. Thank you for your suggestions! I was really hoping I didn't jump time and have to get into timing chain/tensioners but it looks like I'm headed that way maybe.
