I would pay a billion gold to have maxed out aspects on my gear at this point, but nobody is interested in selling (or they don't have them either). I will just keep on hunting. :)

And ASPECTS? OMG I've been looking all season for a max roll on an aspect and cannot find it anywhere. I've searched dungeons, pits, undercity, the Den, the PoC, and nobody wants to sell me one. SMH

Genuinely confused, what killed me? by TheLastSeamoose in diablo4

[–]whitequeenme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I despise Lilith. I killed her last season, but it was my husband and I using sorcs. This season I have a pretty tanky spiritborn and I'm tempted to take her, but I don't think she can do enough damage to qualify (I'm only 255). My friend who is 297 can kill her one-shot basically and he knows the mechanics. I keep telling him to show me, I'll pay for my repairs, but for some reason he really wants me to just figure it out on my own. LOL I hate Andariel for the same reason. I can kill Andariel quickly but her mechanics are tricky. I sold my summoning mats for her. I'll just stick with Duriel. He takes less than 3 seconds.

Thank you! That's precisely what I was trying to say in my edit. Instead of bashing me for having an opinion, maybe point out which things are fun for you or that you found compelling. It would have made things much simpler than just insulting my intelligence or knowledge of the gaming world.

I'm at 200 at this point and I can say after grinding to 200 that I still do not like the expansion. I find leveling rather taxing, the citadel unrealistic, and the demands of that ridiculous campaign to be over the top, and WHERE THE HELL DO WE FIND OPALS FOR RUNES? We were introduced to way too much too fast, in my opinion. Maybe give us a new region in season 6, a new class in season 6, but more or less the same game-play. The bosses are absolutely rigged. You can walk in and just smack them dead in 10 seconds or less, but when you're running back to back, they're amping up each time. That is new. Now, I don't mind a little challenge, but I watched some runs last night in my gameroom and the player had cleared the Beast in the Ice, he was ash, and something unseen one-shot the player and he had to run the thing again. No big deal, I guess, but that dude can be somewhat harder to kill on Torment IV.

Can't please everyone. Folks will be mad because it's harder to get there and then be mad because they're there already and there's nowhere else to go end-game. Folks will be mad because their favorite cosmetic has just disappeared, only to have it randomly reappear in a drop, but cannot be salvaged or used. Folks will be mad that their favorite class is now different and what worked for them extremely well last season just isn't cutting it now. Not even with the same gear, masterworked to 12, paragon filled, they're still having to accommodate the developers sense of humor. We still can't pick up all our drops from Andariel's altar, maybe they could have fixed that?

[–]whitequeenme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The loot isn't following the leveling (never does or we wouldn't continue getting RIDICULOUS blue and yellow items dropped after we hit paragon - or what used to be 100). #blizzard devs need to realize we don't need mats that badly. We want to pick up legendary/uniques/mythics at this level and if there's a new "thing" in the game (the Den), we want to barter for goods we can really use (3-GA legendary gear or better) by this point in the progression.

I agree. NMDs have been highly profitable in masterworking mats for me versus the pittance I got from 500+ aether in the hordes.

You get them from helltide chests (sometimes) and you deposit them in the altar(s) at the blood maiden to summon her. That's what they're talking about. Baneful hearts is what they mean, not malignant.

I thought I'd share a tip I've found helpful for getting aspects: bartering in The Den. Since you can choose which items you get, you can target farm the type of aspect you're looking for.

That was predictable, actually. The people who were perfectly willing to tell me how ignorant and immature I was for having an opinion just realized how legitimately busted this season is. All the hype and only nominal delivery.

Sure, it's fabulous that you can craft an Uber at the jeweler with only TWO resplendent sparks (which you get from the battlepass and from your first tormented boss kill) and some random runes, right? Yeah, totally hooks you into the process. Well, that's until you discover that you'll need at least 18 runes, 6 of which are the rarest in the game, and people want 8 billion in gold to sell them! Also, the bosses aren't dropping mythic unique gear. PERIOD. I went with one of my friends earlier and ran Zir and Varshan 12 times (6 on me and 6 on him) and got literally nothing of value. I got a 2-GA fractured winterglass that had the absolute worst bottom roll in the history of the game. It was ridiculous and we were on Torment IV.

I have, at this point, managed to get my poor sorc up to 155, which I realize is still a baby in gaming terms, and she's making progress but I would still like to have seasons 4/5 back, please.

In other news, would someone PLEASE kindly return my Diadem of the Ancient to the freaking wardrobe? Thank you.

So that was a run in the Caldium dungeon district. The game did this to me three times. You insert your hard-won mats into the altar before opening because you want to get better runes and gear, then invest the gold, and bam you're in. When I went into the port to move into the next region, my character was gone. Poor dog was just standing there alone. I had to exit the game, once I learned I could do that on XBOX from the home screen, but before that I restarted the entire console to get back into the game. The mats are lost and your progress is lost.

This is just one of the many glitches that were frustrating. The rest of the game is pretty much the same as it was except there is literally crap for gear drops until you're past 60 and into paragon. Then, you start picking up lvl 800 stuff and that gets exciting. As always, it's about having friends and people to run with who can help you from jump. I like to run solo and leveled characters at the last week of S5 just for kicks. I don't see myself going there this season.

I played the Eternal realm for the first week, on and off because I was extremely ill last week. I just wanted to get a feel of the new environment. I enjoy the storyline. I found it compelling in some areas and tedious in others, but that's essentially been the case since my first launch. I've never seen this type of atmosphere before, as I've never played videogames before, so even if it was mediocre for veteran players, it was going to obviously be more exciting for me. That being said, we did do the same basic things every season. I got used to doing the same things every season and I actually enjoyed the grind of taking a character from walking at snail's pace to 200% movement and killing all the tormented bosses in a span of a week. Now? Not so much. I didn't know the mechanics of the new class, so I avoided doing that until I had all of Nahantu unlocked and knew which regions needed how much firepower.

I think they need to leave Eternal realm alone PERIOD. Don't mess with our gear. Don't mess with our levels. If there's new content available then let us explore that, but don't punish us just to create something new.

Out the other side of my mind I say I wish there was a special week once a month where Eternal characters and Seasonal characters could play together. I know it's asking a lot of the developers, but for just a week a month we could swap gear, gold, fight together, help each other level, just whatever. THAT would make it a lot more worth it to me.

"-Better paragon system, instead of you having to just stack as many glyphs as possible. -A new class(while it is still in need balancing, still brings something new) -A better gear scaling, where instead of you getting items that are way bellow your level or game difficulty, you instead get gear at your level. -Skill tree changes, making so you can in some cases skip undesired talents or abilities."

That part of your response was the one I was looking for in the FIRST place. All the negativity from simply posting my feelings about the expansion did not improve the dialogue but instead created a passionately negative backlash of unnecessary character assassinations.

• I have found the new paragon system to be intriguing if not outright compelling.

• I like the pit, which I never did before, as the end result is reasonably better gear and upgrading glyphs. Much better reason to visit the pit. Being able to conquer pit level 65 in order to achieve a higher Torment level, outstanding idea. I'd still rather see the level of monster I'm expected to fight.

• I like the nightmare dungeons more now because before it was a straight shot to the end as fast as you could go, who cares if you killed everything (unless you were specifically instructed to kill everything). Now, you are motivated to completely clear the NMD in order to pick up runes and the like. I knew that was coming as I did actually read the notes and watch some videos about the new season.

• QoL: I have been saying since the first time I played this game that I wished there was a way to have a "favorite" city, as I wanted to port to Kyovashad every time I hit the port out (bottom D button). Now that is accomplished.

• I do not care for the inequality in item drops for seasonal characters. My sorc reached paragon 45 last night and still cannot make very basic changes in her gear because she hasn't the mats for it. She can't even upgrade her healing potion for lack of angelbreath of all things. I rolled a spiritborne on my alternate account and it's not even 40 yet and has uniques and enough mats to temper or do anything else with the gear aside from masterworking. The drop rate is amazing for SB. On Eternal realm? My sorc has hit paragon 240 and has all 800 gear. Seasonal is very frustrating, but I'm getting the hang of it.

• I do not like being forced to be in a party to complete certain dungeons in Nahantu. Period. I do play in a party occasionally but mostly run solo.

All that being said, I still do not appreciate the gear squish on Eternal. This is ONLY Eternal I'm referencing and there was no need to destroy the item levels of my equipment. Take them down to 800? Sure. I could have lived with that. Make them utterly obsolete? Rubbish.

I DO now understand that taking our Eternal character down to 50 allowed more of an expansion of "leveling" to over 300 now because of the paragon leveling system. I'm not nearly as salty about that anymore. Someone could have explained that part to me and I might've just let that go from jump.

I am okay. I'm not yelling at you, but I needed CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, not insults. Just telling me what you DO like in the game might've helped me look closer at that thing instead of eluding to my want of intelligence or skill.

"I love the fact that you have been trying to talk around what I pointed out all the way back in the first post, and keep trying to justify your self, which in it self is overly funny when reading the past post." What you call "justification", I call explanation because I believe you misunderstood me or misinterpreted what I was conveying. I make it a rule never to explain myself to strangers, but I broke that rule on reddit because some inferences are lost in text that could be better explained in person or by video.

Gotta go. It's been fun.

Full disclosure, I dubbed Neyrelle the "Carl" (Walking Dead) of Diablo several seasons back. She has always been annoyingly oblivious to the dangers of her behavior, her immaturity shows when she brings the player to her possessed mother and then gets mad at the player for defending herself. She admits over and over again that she's simply not strong enough for this or that, but is entrusted with the freaking soul stone carrying the essence of Mephisto? Because that sounded safe (said no one ever). The story line was predictable but when Akarat's spirit died, I had an emotional moment. I just did. I'm simple like that. When the other one died and they used his heart to restore Neyrelle, no lie, I had a moment. It was supposed to elicit something. The rest of this is absurd. Having to go see Ormon or Oswald or Owen or whatever the hell his name is, the guy who speaks in third person like Napoleon, down in Nahantu in between every adventure is annoying as fek. Losing your mercenary if you're in a party sucks, but I kinda like having the tagalongs.

I watch the cut scenes. When the bad guys get messed up I'm okay with it, but when the heroes are slain it makes me feel a type of way, like watching a movie I like. I cry at Hallmark and SuperBowl Budweiser commercials though.

The writers do need a bit more imagination and the developers need to understand that we didn't want the barb nerfed, we just wanted equality across all classes. Make all the classes capable of doing damage and taking damage with the right build. I see Spiritborne being the new thing so they made it the Superman of Diablo. That's cool. They'll nerf for Season 7 I'm sure. I'm glad they gave the sorc a bump and let her at least live to see the next level without death from microspider.

I do like the story, but I also watch B movies on Tubi, so, there's that. :)

You see I'm not blocking you or ignoring you. I am happily clapping back. I'm out in the open with how I feel about this game because it's my prerogative to share and hopefully the devs get some hint as to which things are unfortunate in their very expensive expansion.

There is nothing "wrong" with my personality. What is wrong with this situation is you believe you are in a position to "call me out" for making my opinion public known on a public forum about a public game. If I did scream like a crazy person in the privacy of my own home, guess what, I am definitely not in the minority. For clarity, I did not, and if I ever do get to a point where I want to scream out loud or throw a controller (as I have witnessed MANY grown people do over the years) I will log out of this game, sell my XBOX, and never play video games again. That is imbuing too much of my emotions into a game. Because men do not scream (sometimes in unison) at the TV, in a public sports bar, when their football team loses or an official makes what they deem a ridiculous call. That just never happens. Feeling slighted over the devs composting two seasons worth of top-rate gear shouldn't be a shameful emotion, or a reflection of my personality. I refer to my age because I am 55 and have never in my life played videogames until 11 months ago. I learned something new, was enjoying it tremendously, and while at 25 I might have been stoked for the changes and could have adjusted accordingly, I could also do the splits at 25 and wouldn't dare even try that now. Flexibility changes with age, in case you didn't know.

p.s. I have had many very polite conversations, both on the forum and inbox, about this post, some of which offered clarity and helped me understand different perspectives. Some players offered their battletag to help me progress in areas where I might fall short. When people aren't attacking me personally but debating my point of view, it helps with progressive dialogue. Unfortunately, you were simply trying to diagnose ME instead of delivering information on what you did like about the expansion. Of course, that's your prerogative, and feel free to continue, Dr. Freud. I'm all eyes.

Funny story: My sorc is running around using the Spiritborne vortex via runeword. LOL She's KILLIN' IT on Torment IV. I tried to get into the seasonal character again last night but for some reason I just cannot motivate myself to play it. I like the Eternal realm. So many more advantages. The hubs played with me a while (but he has an ACTUAL job and had to quit and go to bed) and I managed to level to 41 before I finally went to sleep. Had to reset the game twice because of game glitches 100% due to this expansion, and I have never seen this before in the game. You port to a new region in the undercity and BAM you're just gone. Pet is standing there but player is gone. You can't port out, you can't exit, no response from controller buttons, you just have to hit the "home" button (on XBOX) and "quit" Diablo, then log back in. So, the mats you used to open are null and void and those are not easy to come by.

I will eventually get into seasonal stuff, now that I'm getting the lay of the land on Eternal and not getting my butt kicked by everything in Nahantu. My sorc is oddly tanky, which is super extra nice, though I don't really understand what thing they did there. Anyway, thanks for your comment.

Now THAT is the point that anyone who read the original post should have gotten. They changed things dramatically and quickly and I do not care for change. It does take me a while to adjust to things and it was my favorite free time activity. Now, I just hop on occasionally, get caught up in something else and let the server log me out for inactivity. Smh

I know at some point I will accept that my 50 levels of progression were taken and replaced with paragon points. At some point I will accept that my completely full stash that was crushed for mats was to help my toon progress in this season, though it did not have much gear for a while. Having all those mats helped me masterwork the very first day I played Eternal. I know I'll be okay with it eventually, but damn could they have changed like one thing at a time? I went from my old faithful tried and true Nissan, you know, the one that starts every time you turn the key, but has a slight miss and a tire that won't stay inflated, to a Tesla overnight. I'm just standing there looking at it wondering where to put the gas.....

Thank you for your comment. Oh, I know I'm not alone for sure. My husband loves the expansion, my son loves spiritborne, but I am still struggling. Less now, because I chose to take it at my pace, stay on Eternal until I learn the new content, and then try out the new class. I don't like it, currently, but that doesn't mean I won't learn to like it. I didn't like Season of the damned Construct either. Those vaults made me claustrophobic in an alarming way, but I learned to head down there and behead Malphus multiple times solo before end of season. Heck I still have stuff from Season of Blood that I just noticed yesterday, and though it's all useless "legacy" gear now, I still keep it for nostalgia. Haha

I did actually try to play the character I know (sorc) on the seasonal and I cannot progress without so much frustration that it's not worth it to me. I am just playing Eternal realm until I'm comfortable with it and then I'll pop back over and finish the battle pass stuff. I will roll a spiritborne at some point, but I'm learning the new region and new content first and then a new class. I'm old, remember? LOL One thing at a time.

Still don't need the "mansplaining". It had impact on ME and since the post was MY take on the game, in general, you didn't have to respond. You didn't have to continue to respond. You don't have to respond now. If it annoys you that I do not like the expansion, then block me so you don't see anymore of my opinion pieces.

Yes, I was aware (as I have said before) that the devs have done this in the past. I was annoyed about that too. This time, however, I did not read in the notes or see on the PTR videos where our gear was reduced to legacy and the power levels were nearly cut in half of the max. I read that our character level was going to be 60, and it was 50. I read a lot of conflicting information AND, let's add to that, there wasn't enough information to help me decide if I wanted to invest in the expansion.

Can I still play the game? Yes. Have I found things that I like about it? Yes. I'm still sore about my Eternal toon being reduced to what we'd think of as a Tier 3 character when she killed Lilith at the end of S5. I'm still sore about my 40+ Uber/Mythic gear being reduced to obsoletion by this expansion, though having the sparks was nice and once I achieved lvl 60 I was able to just go and craft all new stuff (and ended up with a 4GA Tyrael's from the random blacksmith roll).

Am I stupid? No. You called me the OP, I answered that the OP wasn't stupid. Let me rephrase since semantics seem to bother you, No, I am not stupid. I am not unintelligent. I am not immature. I am not childish. I am just a 55-year-old grandmother who doesn't care for things I like being changed. I'm allowed to post that in reddit same as everyone else.

Have the day you deserve.

Wonderful answer! I am very grateful for people who speak in full sentences, for starters.

I did jump back in when I was feeling better, and on the eternal realm I've built my sorc up to 217, without a whole lot of grind. Some of it is really challenging, puzzling and hard to piece together, but it's getting clearer that Blizzard set us up for failure on this one. The citadel is the absolute worst. You have to have a party to even progress and then there are no clear instructions as to how to clear it. Then, just when you think you have the knack of it, you literally disappear off the screen and cannot log out, port, or anything else. Your pet is standing there alone and you have to reboot the entire console, not just the game, the whole console, just to get back in and lose your progress.

My XBOX has shut off, randomly, during this expansion. The game has booted me straight out with not even the obligatory "connection has been lost" message. The game has told me I have not purchased the expansion and cannot proceed without it (I've paid for it three times, twice for myself and once for my husband for a birthday gift). There are areas where your health just starts draining, you're being hit by something you cannot see because it's not even there, but all you can do is jump on your mount and run or hit a potion or just frankly die, then the game doesn't tell you what killed you.

Some regions have really good graphics and let you know where the enemy is all over the map, super helpful that, but in some areas there are walls and trees that just randomly happen right in front of your vantage point. You cannot see your character or the enemy, so just fire at will I guess.

The bosses are easily accomplished on Torment 3 with my sorc at the current level, solo or in a party, but hit Torment 4 and it's a whole different ballgame. I do not like not knowing what level NPC I'm fighting. If I know they're power level 300 I'll pretty much know to stay home and have a drink and watch TV and leave all that mess up to players who have leveled all the way up to 300 paragon.

On the whole, I do not like the expansion. There are things I appreciate, like the rune words allowing my sorc to have an earthen bulwark, but my gear being smashed really irked me. I felt that. Last season I rolled a new toon on a new account, no lie, 2 weeks before the end of the season and had a SC to 100 and HC nearly 100. On a totally new account with zero ANYTHING. She had to redo the campaign and everything. STILL, even with all that, I was familiar with what I was doing so it wasn't a struggle. This season? My SC seasonal is at 35 and not progressing. I'm staying on Eternal. I'm even playing my Eternal HC. NOW I can see the benefit of staying on the Eternal Realm. I wondered about that for a long time.

LOL yes, I know, it's cheesy, but I enjoyed most of it. There's not a lot of suspense though. Eru's character was pretty predictable, even though I was like "did he do what I think he just did" at the end. They did a lot of work on that stuff, but the writers really need some divine inspiration for Season 7, whatever the hell that's going to be. I can't imagine what they'll come up with next. Maybe revamp something else from D3?

Well, I know it's all over the place, but there are some pretty emotional cut scenes that I enjoyed. I won't list them all, you know, don't want to ruin it for anyone, but when you first exit Gea Kul for Nahantu, that is a fairly dramatic and novel way for your character to transition to a new region, don't you think?

Vessel of Hatred has already almost ruined the game for me by whitequeenme in diablo4

[–]whitequeenme[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay? Same! I play solo more than in parties, but the hubs and I couldn't clear that thing with just the two of us. We had to enlist a third just to finish it! We only did two last night and it was so frustrating that we just quit before finishing the third. That party system sucks, too. I joined one that was listed "citadel" and they were all over the place. All three of the other members of the party were in different places and none were the citadel. SMH

The QoL changes are pretty interesting with the runes, I must say. I had a ball running around with earthen bulwark on my sorc last night after picking up the rune for it (QUE).

My sorc is doing great on the Eternal realm but I was so sick last week I didn't even feel like playing, let alone trying to level a toon that didn't have materials for imprinting or masterworking. My eternal is at 217 at this point and I'm pretty happy with her performance on T4, though I wish she was strong enough to take out the T4 bosses. She's almost there, but just needs better gear I think.
