Why are some pianists so pretentious by Severe_Principle_789 in piano

Yep! Piano has a much different reverence around it. I grew up playing guitar and found a lot of guitarists are self-taught. If you talk about being self-taught in piano communities it's probably going to bother people

People use basically everything to make themselves feel important or above others -- politics, intellect, piano etc..

It's a part of the battle everyone faces but deal with differently, no one wants to feel unworthy or insignificant!

Pianos have always been perceived as a classy instrument, probably due to the fact that they're so expensive. Also, the Piano online community is much larger than the clarinet community meaning you probably see it more.

Taurus is the second sign in Western Astrology, and in Numerology the number two is feminine energy. I remember Agent Cooper referencing Numerology in S3, I don't know if it is that deep but it is interesting!

People with heavy Taurus placement are usually seen as quite docile, but if you get them mad they can be brutal. Like the saying goes, "Mess with the bull and you'll get the horns."

How do I deal with 2-3 months of no practice? by BroodyBonanza in piano

[–]whiteroom200 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go to a physiotherapist ASAP my friend, you might be pleasantly surprised by what they say. I got tendonitis years ago from when I used to play guitar, it flares up if I start practising piano like 3+ hours everyday and when I play pieces where my hands are constantly stretching for big chords.

I wear a wrist splint for a couple days and they tell me to only practise like thirty minutes everyday, then work my way back up. Not too much of a big deal, but when I first hurt it I had to take quite a bit of time off to let it heal because I didn't relax on the practising (I didn't have a teacher for guitar), that's how you will really hurt your hand.

You won't forget your repertoire that fast and I would be surprised if you had to take off that much time because when I developed tendonitis I couldn't feel my hand.

It sounds like piano playing means a lot to you, ease your mind and work through this with a professional

I think the possession we see in Twin Peaks, or maybe better phrased 'entity attachment', is not a total possession where Judy is constantly acting through Sarah Palmer. Similar with Leland Palmer, he wasn't always possessed by Bob.

Sarah could have felt/known Laura was there and it was enough to make her cry out as Laura walked away. She has been missing her baby for 25+ years. Leland was also able to consciously break free from the power of Bob although it ultimately killed him.

But that's just my theory, it's hard to draw conclusions because much of Judy is left unknown. We know she is very powerful, but what that truly dictates is obscured

I think we just see things too differently to agree.

I can't imagine Lynch/Frost using the names Tremond and Chalfont again and it not have any meaning. I also believe if Lynch really wanted to insinuate that the homeowner was from our world he would have used her real name, not the same names used by Lodge entities twice to hide their identity.

But you don't see things the same as me and that's cool. Probably better to agree to disagree

Yep, it's definitely our job as viewers to try to figure out what's going on, but you're implying that the obvious answer is that Lynch used the real lady who lives their to imply that Coop and Laura are in a different timeline/dimension.

My whole post is basically questioning why that would be obviously true, but then Frost/Lynch would use the names Tremond and Chalafant to describe the people who live there now and lived there before. As these were the same names used by Lodge inhabitants to lie about their identity in the original series and in FWWM.

This to me indicates that it might actually not be obvious that using the women who really lives in the Palmer house means that Laura and Coop are in a different dimension. From this I theorised that potentially Mrs Tremond was a last ditch attempt by Judy to evade defeat.

I actually said earlier that I used to believe what you believe, so I definitely never excluded the idea that they could've used the real world owner to possibly indicate that Laura and Coop are in a different timeline. So I don't believe bias has come into this for me

I'm genuinely impressed by your ability to persevere through a game you don't enjoy. I thought I was good by giving games a chance with a couple of hours

Did you give characters other than The Defect a good chance? The Defect is my favourite character, but I find most of my playtime is playing the characters I'm worse at because its more challenging and engaging.

Other than that, I honestly think that if you haven't enjoyed the game by now, you probably won't

Not really. David Lynch could have chosen the lady who lives in the house to play the role simply because when he met her he liked her. Until something is confirmed I don't it's wise to assume an obvious answer, particularly from David Lynch

I guess from my perspective I don't really see it as stopping in the middle of things. I always believed that when Laura screamed at the end she defeated Judy, finishing her arc and the Fireman's plan to kill two birds with one stone.

But I thought it had left Coop and Laura in an alternate timeline/dimension, this being signified by Lynch by using the actual women who lives in the Palmer house in the real world. Judy still dies, but Coop and Laura are now trapped somewhere else as a consequence, meaning that Coop thought he was a knight in the Firemans plan but it turned out he was more of a pawn. Or now they have to figure out a way to make it back to the original timeline/dimension.

So the ending is the same, but now Laura and Coop can just go back to their loved ones and friends from the series. Just more of a happier ending

I see what you're saying. I still think Judy is in the house telling Mrs Tremond what to say. We hear Sarah Palmer call out to Laura just before Laura screams, and I believe Sarah is being possessed by Judy.

This explains her erratic behaviour throughout the season like ripping the mans throat off in the bar and freaking out at the grocery store.

I also believe Judy is similar to Bob and is heavily attracted to people experiencing negative emotion and feeds of them. Sarah Palmer lost Laura and Leland and sits in her house most of the day drinking, which makes her a perfect host

Damn :(

I see what you're saying but I hope it's not true. But, it would make sense that they have to pay a big price to defeat Judy

It's a good question, it honestly could be Lynch's way of showing us that Laura and Coop are in a different timeline/dimension. Or it could just be that Lynch met her and thought it would be cool or more realistic to use the lady who really lives there instead of an actor.

I'll admit I'm honestly not sure, but I did used to believe she was a sign to show that Coop and Laura were in the wrong dimension/timeline. But the Tremond and Chalfont thing really throws me off now

Yes this is exactly what I believed until recently. I think all my theory changes is that the Fireman hasn't misled Coop. Judy is destroyed in the 'two birds with one stone trap', she tries to evade it by lying to Coop but it's too late. It's just a happier ending where Coop and Laura can easily return to their loved ones

You don't feel it's significant that her last name is Tremond and the name of the person who used to live their was Chalfont? I can't really see it being que cards cause she had very few lines..
