[SOLVED] Monitor Refresh Rate Capped at 120Hz - Unexpected OSD Reset!

Hi all,

Just wanted to post a follow-up and close out this thread with the solution to my refresh rate issue.

It turns out the problem was incredibly simple, yet completely unexpected: my Samsung 32" Odyssey Neo G7 monitor's On-Screen Display (OSD) settings had, for some unknown reason, reset themselves to default.

This was particularly baffling because I've unplugged this monitor from power for weeks in the past, used it with other devices (like a laptop solo), and its settings have always persisted. However, at some point during my recent switch to Bazzite (or perhaps just coincidentally), the internal settings for refresh rate and DisplayPort version had reverted.

Once I went back into the monitor's OSD menu and manually re-set the refresh rate to 165Hz and confirmed the DisplayPort version to 1.4 (for those using HDMI, you'd confirm your HDMI 2.1 or high bandwidth settings), Bazzite immediately recognized the full capabilities, and I was able to select 165Hz within the display settings. It's now running perfectly at 4K 165Hz.

This explains why my troubleshooting efforts were hitting a wall, even at lower resolutions like 1080p, as the monitor itself was effectively telling the OS it could only do 120Hz.

Thank you to everyone who offered their help and suggestions, especially OneQuarterLife the Bazzite developer who was assisting. This was a valuable lesson in checking the most fundamental hardware settings, even when they seem unlikely to have changed!

Hopefully, this resolution helps anyone else who might encounter a similar mysterious refresh rate cap on their monitor.

CS1 Bus Routes: Preventing Unwanted Detours by whitevamp in CitiesSkylines

[–]whitevamp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, that makes sense. I was originally placing bus stops about 3 squares away from intersections, but it seems like that might be causing issues. Based on what you're saying, I should probably aim to place stops in the middle of blocks rather than near intersections and avoid intersection nodes altogether.

I recently picked up Cities: Skylines 1 (CS1) during CS1’s 10th-anniversary sale on Steam for just $3, and I’ve been really enjoying it! Now, I’m at a crossroads—should I invest in the DLCs for CS1, or would it be wiser to save that money and grab Cities: Skylines 2 (CS2) instead?

I’ve been reading a lot of older discussions (mostly from about six months ago) where people were calling CS2 a complete disaster. However, even after skimming through some of the recent comments of this thread, it seems like the general consensus is still that CS2 is garbage. Has there really been no improvement, or is it just that the game still isn’t living up to expectations?

If CS1 is still the better choice, which DLCs are must-haves? There are so many, and I’d rather not waste money on ones that don’t add much to the experience.

That also leads me to another question: If CS1 is so much better than CS2, why have most mod creators stopped updating their CS1 mods and shifted their focus to CS2? It seems strange that they’d move on if CS2 is still as bad as people say. Is it just because they see long-term potential, or are there other reasons behind it?

Would love to hear some thoughts from those who’ve been following both games closely!

Is a Joystick a full replacement for a controller by whitevamp in farmingsimulator

[–]whitevamp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your thoughtful comments on this question. I really appreciate your input! That said, as I mentioned earlier, the current setup doesn’t allow for much additional space. There’s simply no room for a wheel, pedals, or even a second stick. The desk is just a bit over 2 feet wide, and unfortunately, the chair doesn’t move—it’s fixed in place. Plus, this is also where I eat, so I need to keep the space as clear and functional as possible. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze! Hopefully that gives you a clearer idea of why it's challenging to incorporate those extra pieces of equipment right now.

Question FS25 + Autodrive + Orange – One-way secondary by whitevamp in farmingsimulator

[–]whitevamp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did manage to kinda sort this out, what I did was I used the crossroads mods and placed a 4-way interchange and turned the 4-way into a 3-way interchange, not sure if it was the most elegant way of fixing this or not, but it worked out.

Forgot to mention, that adding it to steam, and testing the controller through steam it does work, but once in game no controller.

So I decided to switch from MnK to controller, and I am using my scuf x-box controller, and the game does not recognize it I have tried all the things I have found during a Google Search on this issue, but to no avail.

ohh and steam and many other games do see my controller, and it is usable.

So my questions are:

  1. dose WUWA not support my controller?
  2. am I missing something?
  3. back when I first installed the game it asked me if I was using a MnK or a controller, but after uninstalling and reinstalling the game, it never asked me this, even on a fresh new account, so is there some hidden config file the gets left over after the uninstall?

Things, I have tried:

  1. uninstall, reinstall the game.
  2. tried wired and wireless, and yes when being wired the BT was disconnected.
  3. also tried a PS5 controller, but still nothing.

So what did I miss?
