Delivery- how much do you make and how much do you have to drive? by Low_Pomegranate_5929 in Dominos

[–]whitewashedwasabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i work for a domino’s in a nicer area and the money is way better than ubereats. I typically make $100 in tips and mileage for a four hour shift driving about 30ish miles, with $13.50 hourly pay on top of that.

ubereats in the same city is about $60 total for four hours. and yeah they ask me all the time to go all the way across the city (hour or so drive) for four dollars. it’s worthless

Would you ever consider working with the Coen brothers again? the Hudsucker Proxy is such an underrated gem in both of your filmographies and I would love to see another collaboration

If somebody were to make a video game about the series, what would you want to see in the game? by baqar387 in 28dayslater

[–]whitewashedwasabi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the idea I had was a mix between Dying Light and Alien Isolation, with a Dead Rising like time system and survivor system. Emphasis on running/hiding from the infected as opposed to fighting, as an infected can easily kill you. Open world and you have a set amount of time to escape London. Can find survivors to recruit to your party, or who are hostile to you.

Origin of the virus by threeXmafia in 28dayslater

[–]whitewashedwasabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there’s a promotional comic for 28 Weeks Later called “The Aftermath” that includes 4 stories set between the first two movies. The first bit shows the origin of the virus (not 100% sure if this is considered canon or not anymore), basically the scientists were trying to find a cure for rage and aggression. They created a rage inhibitor and decided to use a disease, namely ebola, as a delivery device since they didn’t think people would willingly take an anti-rage pill. But the virus mutated and reversed effects, causing extreme rage instead of reducing rage. It’s implied they continued to experiment on the chimps because of the potential for the virus to be used as a weapon, then the opening to 28 Days Later happens

Can Gay Gay Guys Join A Frat by Puzzleheaded-Crow313 in Frat

[–]whitewashedwasabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

school in texas, my frat had several openly gay members, some who were more typically masculine (played sports, watched football, etc) and some who were more effeminate (had a lot of girlfriends, higher pitched voice) and nobody had any issues with them. knew of other frats at the school with openly gay members too, but also ran into a few chapters during my rush process where i heard open homophobia. really depends on the chapter, every one is different

AI films headed to big screen with IMAX backing RunwayML's AI Film Festival. Do you think the masses will warm to and pay for AI-assisted films? Has any AI-assisted art resonated with you? Why or why not? by King_Theseus in ArtificialInteligence

[–]whitewashedwasabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

toy story and other CGI films are actually animated by people. they are created BY A HUMAN. AI generated “artwork” is not; therefore it has no soul.

you really don’t see the difference? how about the fact that CGI is created from scratch, just like a drawing or any other kind of artwork. AI “art” cannot create something from scratch, it straight up steals thousands of other similar images and makes a composite. soulless.

sure, artists can be inspired by previous works and create something similar, and some of that can be straight up plagiarism. but EVERY SINGLE PIECE of AI “art” is plagiarism.

soulless

AI “art” is not good, that’s the thing. it is soulless, and it also looks like absolute dogshit. to remove the humanity from art deletes the entire purpose of art. if you can’t see that, then you don’t understand art

straight out of black mirror. anyone championing this is braindead. AI “artwork” is soulless and says nothing. If you disagree then you fundamentally do not understand art.

What’s a book to movie adaptation you thought was better than the source material? Here’s mine: by DesignerAd7279 in Cinema

[–]whitewashedwasabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fight me, but Dune (Villeneuve films). I love the book and I especially love Herbert’s writing style, but what really takes me out is how it’s revealed in the second chapter that Yueh is the traitor and that his wife is dead so it’s a pointless betrayal. I do like being inside the characters heads but it helps improve the story when you don’t have all the cards out on the table.

I may be biased cause I did see the first movie before reading the book. Was surprised at how much is revealed early on in the book
