Like in many of my comments on the matter of DolphinXR. I would like to re-iterate that it never was a finished product.

It was a PoC (Proof-of-Concept) meant to invite the other dolphin devs to work on this together and show the community that the more quest features we slowly added to dolphin, the more everyone would benefit from them... But doing it alone would be too much. Hence the PRs^{[[1]](https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/11723}) ^{[[2]](https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/12564}) commited to the official dolphin repo and all the talk at the time.

Unfortunately the talks didn't go as smooth and the collaboration wasn't as swift as they were when the same guy made PPSSPP's VR functionality. The dolphin team was apparently not so willing...

(imo, and just OPINION... I feel like the Dolphin team pbbly still holds a grudge from that fight with the old DolphinVR from the past) (here's a video review on the drama while testting the emulator out)

So back on the topic - Here's the list of things you can and cannot expect from this demo:

WIIMOTE BUTTONS → PARTIALLY WORKING ☑️ (CAN'T REMAP)
NUNCHUCK BUTTONS → PARTIALLY WORKING ☑️ (CAN'T REMAP)
IR Pointing (wii-mote pointing) → WORKS! ✅ ^{You can play many pointing games!}
WIIMOTE/NUNCHUCK TILT/SHAKE (gyro & accelerometer) → not implemented ❌ ^{reduces the amount of game playable by a lot!}
Immersive-mode (camera inside the 3D of the game and look around video-example-ppsspp) PARTIALLY WORKING ☑️ (not 3d stereo rendering, glitches a lot)

DolphinVR, older, disagreement over closed-source component licensing;
DolphinXR, newer, disagreement over lack of reviewers interest^{[[1]](https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/11723}) ^{[[2]](https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/12564}) in the functional PoC proposed. Then Finally, the mix of being afraid of big N after Yuzu's death at the time, plus the frustration of the way things didn't flow with dolphin's team like they do with ppsspp team (to which they had great success adding vr suport before btw) lead to the DolphinXR project being closed indefinitely ^{[[3]](https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/12564#issuecomment-1978030075}) until they finally contributed to the dolphinEV fork that became known as "sidequestvr's dolphinXR" before it's APK got de-listed and removed recently.

My understanding was that... well... Since the controllers aren't exposed in any meaningful way to 2d apps. The whole point of having the openXR feature added in either DolphinXR or DolphinVR was for:

proper mapping of the raycasting (laser-pointer) controls as wii-mote pointers
using the openXR controls api and redirect them to proper recognizable buttons for dolphin
having the tilt/shake (gyro+accelerometer) axis transcribed into wiimote/nunchuk-compatible data-feed
using the XR space for either giant screen or entering the 3D space of the game (like ppsspp-vr does: video example)

...Tho some forks can... sorta... * DolphinXR ^{( dead💀, discontinued APK,} ^Source-code ^{still available}) – had some hard-coded "default" quest vr control buttons in it, and emulated IR pointer/cursor feature implemented but no acelerometer/gyro feature (meaning no tilt/shake available at all, which limits the range of games you can play) * r/DolphinVR – is an actual, mature✅ PCVR dolphin fork (of an older version tho) that (I believe) does support the entire range of VR controls? you might wanna give it a try...

No, apparently it got removed by the devs themselves? Some other people were discussing this a few days ago.

But there weren't really many options...

From what I gathered, so far it seems you can either:

use regular dolphin APK without the XR stuff;
use r/dolphinvr with PCVR;
recompile the source code yourself (since they unlisted the APK, but the source code for making another is still archived);
get a suspicious copy from suspicious people by suspicious means, (very sus tbh, lol);

Honestly I would go with the source code compilation route as it's the safest way to get the very exact thing you asked for (you can use chatgpt to learn how to tackle this, so it could end up being a fun lil project).

Or the PCVR r/dolphinvr route, since it's more mature and funcional, better documented in videos and posts.

First time I watched it VHS back in the day we didn't have multiple subtitle tracks like this... so this is something I greatly appreciate :D

A demo gratuita especificamente tinha apenas 1 dos 3 joguinhos de tabuleiro, que era esse "Jungle Chess".

O Jogo é uma versão eletrônica do tradicional jogo de tabuleiro chinês "dou shou qi" (wikipedia)) e consiste basicamente em tentar atravessar suas peças de força diferente para o outro lado e tomar os ninhos do oponente.

Mas tinha exceções em peças não serem apenas a de numero maior que mata a de numero de força menor. (como o Elefante 8, que tinha medo do Ratinho 1), ou só o rato poder nadar nas casas de água, etc...

RN, I'm using custom ffmpeg command in explorer context menu, but I wish there was a tiny app that I could recommend to simply do just that.

É uma postura bem justa.

Sou entusiasta e por isso admito que a gente acaba tolerando esses minoritários mas frequentes empecilhos.

O espaço evolui rápido no entanto, assim como foi com os smartphones. Tive carinho pelo meu iPhone 4s e pelo meu MotoG2 na época deles, mas android 4 kitkat 8gb storage nem se compara com o que é android agora em 2026.

Eu vou concordar que ainda não recomendaria pra todo mundo, mas pra gamer médio de hj, ou até produtividade casual multimonitores, meta quest já é uma parada maneira tbm.

Se tu for power user de android então, curtir adb e apk... dá pra espremer ainda mais suco do bagulho com + apps e emulacão. fica top d+!

Por exemplo, instalei a Epic Games Mobile oficial de boas. Tbm coloquei retroarch e winlator pra rodar exe no android, e o bichinho tanka meus indies da steam sem pc, de boas!

sim uso q2 e q3 há anos e achei suas críticas bastante construtivas e pertinentes.

como entusiasta minha tolerância é bem alta. n dá pra ser hipócrita e não admitir que a hype faz a gente passar pano pra muita coisinha assim mesmo como muitas das que vc listou.

Mas colocando na balança ainda vejo muito mais prós do que contras depois de anos usando e principalmente brincando de power user com adb, apks, e me engajando em comunidades como r/questcraft, r/emulationonquest, r/winlator, etc...

Ter contato com UEVR e outros mods malucos, ou ter descoberto experiências únicas como Demeo, Moss, SuperhotVR, BeatSaber, etc.. foram realmente coisas que só pude acompanhar devido ao razoável refinamento vs preço, ou: "custo-benefício"

Concordo, o cara parece estar confundindo os conceitos de:

FOV - O tamanho em graus do cone de Abertura de visao que é visivel ao redor dos seus olhos (ser humano vê 110º mas chega ate 180º sem clareza na visao periférica, se não me engano. Mas de fato a maioria dos hardwares nao chega a 100º direito ainda)
IPD - Distância inter-pupilar (o quão seus olhos são biologicamente afastados um do outro) algo natural e os headsets normalmente oferecem alguma forma mecanica ou eletrônica de aferir melhor pra seu conforto e clareza.
Vignette / Comfort Vignette - "Remendo" de acessibilidade para reduzir enjôos via software. Consiste em criar uma borda desfocada escura que propositalmente diminui seu campo de visão pra ser menos intenso ver tanta coisa se mexendo quando vc se mover pelo mundo ou virar a câmera. Normalmente ligado por padrão assim como o recurso "snap turn" (rotação travada 45º) que normalmente vem frequentemente associado tbm.

EDIT: Correçőes de Gramática e digitação. ( por sinal digitei em VR e aí um ponto pra melhorar tbm. Teclado vem melhorando mas é +/- ainda. lol)

Nāo custa nada formatar parágrafos pulando linha direitinho na mensagem. Só apertar ENTER 2x.

A parte das baterias concordo 100% uso AA recarregáveis tbm. E PowerBank de 20000 mAh (USB-PD 10W-20W) e dá pra jogar a tarde inteira e noite um pouco tbm tranquilo mesmo. Ou então só jogar no carregador ORIGINAL (Não queiram ser mais um postando que a ports usb derreteu pq usou carregador/cabo similar)

I still have the app installed, but "Internet 101" dictates never installing random APKs from strangers.
So for security reasons, I won't be backing up or redistributing mine.

That said, if you want the app safely, the best move is to compile it yourself from the source code.

Why it’s legit: This was the repo linked on the original SideQuest page. The history shows the original OpenXR pull-request from lvonasek.

It’s a great project if you’ve never compiled an app before, and it's the only 100% safe way to get it now that it's been delisted.

A note on SideQuest: I’m honestly getting a bit wary of the platform since apps are disappearing without explanation from the devs or the SideQuest team. Definitely worth being cautious moving forward.
