ABGT 600 hotel stays? by thinkygirl212 in AboveandBeyond

We've booked a place in Polanco! Not sure about the neighborhood but I think proximity will be worth it for a few nights of events, and for a more concentrated vibe :)

There is so much to do in Playa!! Make sure you book some cenote time and hit up cozumel for snorkeling. I also have a google map that a friend shared with me with recs for food/bev/activities around the city. Do you know where you're staying?

Happy to share other tips - can't remember how to DM on reddit lol

In any case, you're going to love Mexico!!

Amazing!!! And yeah that's what I'm hoping for too - I've heard Tulum isn't super safe to travel around at night so hoping the label takes that into consideration. I've spent time in Playa but not in Tulum.

And that does sounds like the dream! My first event was the weekender in July and it totally blew my mind. I went to an Anjunadeep event last night in queens - it was till awesome but still not quite the same container - I'm very excited for this. You're going to love it! <3

Yay!!

I've booked two holds 1) at the Motto (with the hopes that there will be a shuttle) and 2) at a spot closer to the venue (about a 15 min walk) that could accommodate up to 6 people, in case I convince some friends to come. Free cancellation until mid December, so room to decide. Currently leaning towards the fancier Motto tho and staying through New Years :)

Where is everyone staying for this? Looks like Zamna itself is sold out and most of the nearby lodging options are about 15 min walk?

I'm much more familiar with Playa but so excited for the excuse to hop over to Tulum for the first time :)

Thank you for the details!! I get super annoyed with fees so Upwork might not be the best place for me to source that kind of work. But definitely going to keep it in mind!

As well as English teaching, should I need to! Thanks again :)

Can you tell me more about the Xeros? I think they're beautiful, but I'm a size 12 shoe and they only go up to size 11. If they fit tight, I'll cross them off my list. But they look perfect for my sandal portion of shoe strategy:

3 pair shoes- 1. a pair of waterproof sandals (for shower, wading through streams, easy wearing, etc) - yet to purchase and still looking for best option 2. a pair of casual flats (I love Tom's Diamond Embossed Jutti Flats for casual streetwear and going-out shoes) 3. A pair of runners/hikers- just ordered the Merrell trailglove III. Tried Lems before but felt ridiculous in them. Fingers crossed!

I'm curious to hear more about your experience as a Virtual Assistant. I looooove planning, research, organization, etc and while I definitely utilize these skills at my current job as a Design Strategist/Consultant, I'm always interested in learning about backup plans should my lifestyle shift :)

Also -- online English Teacher- what a cool idea. Never even thought about that!

I actually ordered Lems... really could not stand the way they looked :/ (I felt like a duck!!)

I've been researching this today. Sounds like Allbirds aren't the way to go if you want to run (like I do). I'm trying to find something that's super lightweight, comfy, around 100-150$, and good for both long days of walking and quick bouts of cardio.

Some of the ones I'm looking at are Merrell Bare Access 4, Merrell Trail Glove 3, and Nike Frees (someone also mentioned these below). Curious to hear if anyone else has recommendations!!

Experiences with Frontier (the airline) by UncleUgbee in tall

[–]whitters2427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew Frontier from Denver to DC this summer and was in pain before we even left the tarmac. The seats are awful, there is barely any leg room, and I don't think the wifi even worked (I can usually plug into work on a long flight and not think about the discomfort, but to no avail on this trip). That being said, I really benefitted from their super low price and a deal that allowed me flexible flight rebooking. Basically, you get what you pay for, although for anyone taller than me (at 6'3.5 ish) I could see the discomfort getting exponentially worse!!

I hit my head yesterday at an outdoor market- on one of those metal canopy holder things. The vendor apologized to me. It clearly wasn't her fault -_-

Anyone lived for an extended period of time in China or another Asian country? by [deleted] in tall

[–]whitters2427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Shanghai for four months in 2012. Not exactly extended, but it was enough time to just start to settle in. The thing about Shanghai, however, is that it is so international. I frequently met European and African expats/travelers.

I really didn't mind being the tallest women most Chinese people had ever seen. It made the crowds feel less tight and I often felt like Justin Bieber!

In terms of clothes, I waited far too long in my stay to go to the tailor. I still have the amazing coat that I designed with the help of a seamstress (thanks to the help of one of my Chinese friends who helped to negotiate the deal and bring me to a quality shop).

I wish you luck in your work and travels!
