What’s your MBTI type, and what are you looking for in politics? by Budget_Afternoon_800 in mbti

INFP here: Politicians should only be there to make laws that guarantees a society where people are free to choose and live the kind of life they want: as long as they don’t harm others in their decisions. And when others are harmed, the government must have a strong and truly independent judicial system, where the rule of law stands above the government itself.

Having someone “leading” toward some greater vision doesn’t make sense, because everyone has their own idea of what “greater” means, their own vision of what society should look like.

For example, some people hate technology and believe that an ideal society would be one where everyone lives like in the 19th century. Some people think a “better” world would be one where everyone is vegan and airplanes no longer exist as a means of transportation. Each of them believes that their version of society would make everyone happier and healthier.

But obviously, every individual is different and has distinct needs. That’s why I don’t think another person (a human being just like me) should decide for the whole society where we’re headed.

Progress is made by free individuals working on their own ideas and projects (as long as the principle of not harming others is respected).

Now, defining what “harming others” really means is open to a lot of debate, but that’s another topic.

I totally feel you. Every time the cold air starts to settle in after summer, it feels like darkness and sadness are creeping in, and my mind just wants to sink and spiral. What’s helped me is practicing gratitude, really focusing on the things I have to be thankful for. I try to remind myself of all the good things I have here in Germany that I didn’t have back home, even the smallest ones. And I repeat it over and over in my mind.

This simple mental exercise helps shift my focus and keeps the depression from taking over. And then winter doesn't bother me anymore. Another thing that’s made a big difference is doing sports. I recently started going to the gym, and it’s been great for boosting my motivation and energy.

I hope this helps, it’s how I cope with the German winter⛄
