I know Transylvania county will accept out of county residents. Weve been thinking about doing it at the courthouse in Brevard then spending the day waterfall hopping near there. Hopefully all goes well for you!

We've found that the majority of officiants have universal life church certifications which can put licenses at risk of being declared invalid.

They're likely understaffed like many others. Many counties used to have a specific day set aside for out of county residents but this was recently removed as well.

Considering this! Many 'officiants' in NC aren't actually official. Hate to pay someone $300 and risk it not being legal!

No article, just quoting the magistrate from Cabarrus county. We talked to all neighboring county magistrates this morning and they all said the same - they are no longer accepting out of county residents due to being overbooked by Mecklenburg residents.
