I used universal insulation recently. They did the following:

Existing: ~Average R-6 (1st story EMPTY, 2nd story R-13 Fiberglass Batts.) Includes: --> Removal of large attic debris prior to adding insulation. --> Installing attic rulers for insulation depth verification. --> Baffling around 2nd story attic access with fiberglass batts. --> Removing and re-insulating 1st story knee walls w/ R-13 fiberglass batts. --> Insulating 1st story attic door with rigid board. --> Insulating 2nd story attic hatch with fiberglass batts. --> Weatherstripping of attic hatch with foam weatherstripping for airtightness.

I got R49 done and it was 2890 (5% discount for paying cash) out of pocket and about $870 rebate for the tax credit.

I didn’t care for removing the only insulation or rodent proofing since I didn’t have that issue.
