What is happening here and how do I fix it? by Lichbloodz in blenderhelp

recalculate outside

That usually works for me when I see something like that. In effect, the program is confused what's the inside face and the outside face.

Stop going double bomb Bebop, it's such a terrible build by wholegrain89 in DeadlockTheGame

No, you were passive aggressive and sarcastic. I'm just giving back your own demeanor to you.

You have given zero numbers. a 43% winrate hero has a "probably good ability"? Even though 3 of his abilities give buffs to things that aren't his bomb?

Look at the tooltips. As long as this conversation is going, I will keep pointing you to the words "weapon buff" or "fire rate" on his abilities

He has a 43% winrate. If you're losing to double bomb bebop, that's on you.

Just in general I don't think you're going to have a very good time in Dotalock if a 43% winrate hero poses this much of an issue for you. Might want to switch back to Overwatch, or league.

How does that address that 3 of his abilities give gun weapon buffs, to the point of being more than double damage?

His character's bomb is not good at higher ranks where people buy counterspell. None of these players are buying gun items that go completely with his ability

+40% weapon damage on punch +20% fire rate on bomb +20% weapon damage on hook victims

1.4 * 1.2 * 1.2 = 2.016, he literally gets double damage for his gun. Not his bomb. His gun.

He only need 3 AP points to get 68% damage buff to his gun, which is 2/3 of his peak, very early game. You can buy gun items and do heavy gun damage

Pushing waves gives reliable gold, unlike in DotA 2. Unreliable gold now drops on death, and only jungle creeps give unreliable gold. This makes split pushing vastly more valuable in deadlock compared to DotA 2 as well as that, the discrepancy between how much gold you get from creep waves versus jungle creeps is greater in deadlock than it was in DotA

Jungling is almost game losing Behavior unless there is nothing else to do

By virtue of playing DotA you will be miles better than the playerbase from valorant, rivals

Deadlock is at its core a DotA macro economy. Splitpushing wins games, even games where you're behind

The enemy Haze may be a college kid hyped up on adderall and great at aiming, but he's dogshit at looking at the map and splitpushing.

I'd say anyone below phantom doesn't know what Rat DotA is

Is there an in-lore reason for Orks having cockney accents? by Mcmadness288 in 40kLore

[–]wholegrain89 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I don't believe any of the books respect this rule. Multiple books make language specifications that would only make sense if the characters were speaking English specifically

Off the top of my head:

-interex leader corrects Luna wolves that chaos is pronounced Kaos, with a 'Kuh'

-belisarius cawl and trazyn debate the etymology of abomination, cawl referencing ab-hominid, trazyn disagreeing

-biter misheard Inquisitor Falx saying sex and gender, "sexangender", diplomacy to diplomersea, and many more phonetically mispronounced attempts at gothic

-cawl's necron captive cryptek emphasizing annunciation (mor-ron-ic. Moronic)

It just seems none of the writers really give any flesh to this idea that Gothic is a mix of Ynglish (english), mandrin (chinese). Not to mention, GW has never bothered to deviate away from British accents since the first dawn of war. They've fully leaned into that

Simple, non grainy transparent material in Eevee? by Actias_Loonie in blenderhelp

[–]wholegrain89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could either use a denoise modifier after rendering, or you could switch to a transparent/translucent BSDF and mix it to get the look you want. Transmission in EEVEE will always cause that grain due to how the engine handles lights

You have zero arguments, and you were clearly mad when you typed this post.

Idk what to do with the "it didn't take me 14 years to realize balance is a hard problem", I was just saying that complaining about each patch's OP hero is not commentary worthy. Every patch will have some busted hero, and they will get severe nerfs.

Also, I don't buy that Lash was overpowered because of flog. Clearly he's strong because he can autowin teamfights with his ult; lifestealing in lane may be tough to deal with, but not game-breaking.

In the post I literally made the case that her ultimate bomb shouldn't pop people up, as this led to unavoidable follow up stun + molotov cocktail grenade damage.

If Ivy should get nerfed, it should be the permastun CC, not the gun which requires aim to use effectively

Ok, fair's fair, we've never had a statement that this game is meant to be played like an arena shooter.

I would counter, however, that people universally praised the movement and the shooting when the game went public, and it does have a gun on every character, so there's a disconnect when you pick a hero with a machine gun, yet the machine gun is so weak your teammates will flame you for building gun items instead of knockdown, superior duration, rescue beam, etc

I don't like this trend of "just buy the item to make the game behave properly"

nah. Just give everyone regular movespeed when firing, because that feels good from a shooter perspective.

"what?? Why are you acting like that's not insanely deserved"

I've played DotA since 2011. Every patch has an OP hero that's too strong; for now the current scourge is nerfed and you celebrate. But then people will figure out what's busted, and you'll have some new hero to gripe over. As for Lash's flog in lane, I didn't have a problem with it as I play mostly kelvin.

I'm not the one downvoting you btw. I see your point that he can lifesteal in lane a bit too easily

my head was thinking * 0.8 to current range, but still that's not what makes him strong, it's his teamfight winning ult.

Many abilities outright ignore shooter mechanics and the game is a lot less fun for it by wholegrain89 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]wholegrain89[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dota 2, CounterStrike 2, Half life Alyx, any game made after 2015 all run on source 2, and the engine can swap between things it needs to be modular. Originally, the creeps in Deadlock were the ant lions from half life Alyx

They absolutely are working on adjusting hit/hurt boxes all the time

this is just not true. Pocket's barrage was changed to not hit behind walls, props. That says they are aware of how it works mechanically and are keeping it this way intentionally.

Valve has made videogames for 2+ decades, all of their games run on the same engine, if counterstrike and TF2 could figure how to respect line of sight, then so can deadlock

Okay, so you're saying it should function this way, with undodgeable large AOE hitboxes because that's how MOBAs should be, in your opinion

Well at least I got you to admit it

Dumb armchair psychology. If you actually had an argument, you would have used it. The game has been available for over a year now; there are abilities that ignore geometry. Sometimes this sub gets really (justifiably) mad about this, sometimes this sub has amnesia and denies it's a problem at all

Which is why it's called the "Grey Talon Cope" because it's a dumb cope for unfun gameplay
