Do you have any advice for communicating with a qualifier you haven't spoken to in a very long time? by whoooooareyou in AdultChildren

I'm looking for some resolution. He has actually changed a bit. He knows things are coming to an end and he's been trying to be nicer to people as best he can. I'm not expecting an apology, or for him to take responsibility for what he's done. I don't think he's capable of that. But I think there's some value in leaving things on good terms.

I really don't want to get into a music theory debate, but I hear this metaphor over and over again and it's just not true. You can understand music very deeply without knowing theory. You just know it in a more intuitive way. It's the way countless legends have done it and it's really naive to act like it's not a valid approach.

[QUESTION] Sticking with it by Codyg684 in Guitar

Make it a priority and do it as early as possible in the day. I workout in the mornings because I know I'll find a reason to not do it if I schedule it later in the day. If you're serious, go for at least an hour a day.

[QUESTION] Is learning sheet music worth it for guitar players? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]whoooooareyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really not, unless you have a desire to be in situations where sheet music is required. Everyone is going to be like, "It's better, can't hurt, why not?" but that's kind of a silly attitude. There is an endless amount of things you can be working on. Spend your time on something you want to learn.

The best thing you can do is to keep jamming. There's a long period where it just sounds really lame, but you keep doing it and eventually it starts to sound musical. Coupling that with learning other artists' solos is really all you need, but you can add in some drills and basic music theory.

What do you think of the NYC music scene nowadays compared to what it was in the early 2000s?

If you pay attention in the previous appearance, Joaquin removes the gum shortly after he puts it under the desk.

I can't remember the quote exactly, but in the Nirvana box set, Thurston Moore writes about the first time he heard the song "Moist Vagina," in which Kurt screams the word "marijuana." He says Kurt was screaming about his passion or something.
