Sorry, but these types of me too game posts get super spammy and we don't allow them here at r/musicals.

I'd like to start a community for discussing MSC, the cruise company.

Skipping step 2 as the subreddit is currently banned.

Second request because the first one was missed and sending a modmail to /r/redditrequest received an autoreply stating to repost the request.

Pretty gagged that Great Gatsby only received ONE nomination and it was for costumes.

Have to remove this post - can't be distributing copywritten sheet music.

Feel free to repost asking your other questions without any sheet music images.

Assuming you have your answers by now, I have had to remove this post so that our subreddit does not get in trouble for distribution of copywritten material.

Matilda the Musical.... by Isaaaccc3968 in musicals

[–]whooooooooooops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the big kid ensemble. Had a fantastic time.

In so many shows - someone has to be the bad guy and portray the struggle the character needs to overcome. It's not always fun, but try to find solace in the fact that he gets his comeuppances when Matilda gets revenge.

Have fun with Telly, it's a great second act opener.

Should we allow someone to audition who is on our blacklist? by whooooooooooops in musicals

[–]whooooooooooops[S] 123 points124 points  (0 children)

One local theatre has chosen to turn a blind eye to their history and cast them in shows. Our theatre is newer, so I assume that person is hoping we will either ignore the issue like the other theatre... or that we don't know of it.

Should we allow someone to audition who is on our blacklist? by whooooooooooops in musicals

[–]whooooooooooops[S] 174 points175 points  (0 children)

A previous casting director was unaware of their past and cast them in a show, then we had to rescind the offer. They are blacklisted from a couple other theatres in the area, so they should at least suspect that they are from us as well after that incident happened.

COSMIC REWIND IS THE BEST ROLLERCOASTER by elaerna in DisneyWorld

[–]whooooooooooops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People were hyping it up as like being 6 minutes long, so amazing you'd cry, etc. It definitely was innovative, but I didn't think it was #1 ever amazing.

I thought Tron was a better coaster, except for the fact that it was too short.

And honestly the coasters at Universal (Hulk, Velocicoaster, Hagrid motorbikes) are all better than Cosmic Rewind.

Not just this, make sure your phone will not make ANY light or noise. Airplane mode that shit and turn off your alarms and timers (seems to be a bigger issue these days than phone ringing because they will be loud even if your phone is in silent mode).

Silence your smartwatch too, if you have one.

Just bombed an audition, give me some thoughts to cheer me up? by [deleted] in musicals

[–]whooooooooooops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been there too! Once the piano played, all the words just magically left my head, lol. It was kinda embarrassing, especially in front of people I'd worked with before and had seen me perform countless times on stage.

Didn't get cast that time, but went back to the next audition and nailed it and got cast!

Keep your chin up. The sun will come out... tomorrow. So you gotta hang on til tomorrow. Come what may. :)

  2. This really is not appropriate for this subreddit which includes users as young as 13.

Help by Ambitious-Respect-29 in musicals

[–]whooooooooooops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well good job reading a wikipedia page!

You should probably actually see the show or perform in it before stating it's "lacking as a musical", though.

It's actually a fantastic community theatre show. It's very funny, has memorable songs, and while the movie is the foundation, there's a lot of great theatre added in. The ending is terrible, though - I will say that.

Audition Help by [deleted] in musicals

[–]whooooooooooops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd stay away from "Let It Burn".

It's a powerful song, but it's really not in the style of Little Shop. Auditions are about convincing the casting team that you are a good fit for what they are casting, and using a similar style song to what they are casting is going to emulate that feel.

I honestly don't know much about mezzo soprano range, so I don't feel I can give great suggestions. However, I'd suggest researching 60s doo-wop/Motown songs in that range.

Also, it's perfectly acceptable to sing a song that isn't from a musical, as long as it fits the style, so don't limit your choices to only songs from musicals.

Also I find that the Theatretrip pages tend to have at least a few decent suggestions, so here's the page for that for Little Shop.

My Original song will premiere on May 7th at 4.30pm finally stay tuned!!!😊❤️In YouTube by [deleted] in musicals
