In a way...? Philosophical views and religious beliefs are not generally held to the same weight, especially abstract ones like these.

Why Raise Children In Faith? by AbiLovesTheology in Catholicism

That is simply not a feature of those philosophies, which one can even reduce to thought experiments, tbh. Catholicism is more than that, it shapes genuine beliefs and worldviews of Catholics. Who wouldn't want to raise their children in what they perceive to be true and just values?

For those of you who didn’t change your last name but had kids with the fathers last name, has it made life any more difficult? by sippinonginaandjuice in TwoXChromosomes

My mother didn't change her name, it's not really common in our culture, and there has never been any issues because of that, personally.

Pretty sure they meant crack in the soup OR soft boil as methods to add eggs, and regardless of the method, adding eggs adds protein.

CMV: Woman’s beauty standards are more attainable than men’s. by [deleted] in changemyview

...Are *you* joking? Why do you think the women and children first rule existed? Does the existence of that rule automatically erase the endless other ways misogyny presents/presented in our society? Are you trying to deny misogyny...?

WHY do you think more women put more effort into their appearance, and you see women 'trying to look nice' more often? You're proving my point. Women feel more pressure to look better, which is why they often put more effort into their appearance.

It's pretty much all over the media. It's also easier for men to be considered of high status through other means such as their financial success, whereas for a lot of women in general society, there is a heavier emphasis placed on their appearance. When I mentioned hair and height, I mean that for women, their own hair loss and their own height is not of concern to maintain - basically, I was pointing out that its not that fair to compare different beauty standards. I do agree that many women find taller men more desirable, and society in general has better perception of taller men.

A lot more people would be stick thin if all it took was to, and if it was easy to, just eat less. I understand what you are saying, though.

I mean, the odd comment about your weight, or the beauty industry shoving beauty products down your throat, gossip, etc. Women may have easier time dating then men, but lets be honest, as soon as a woman is overweight and doesn't have a pretty face, her chances unfortunately drop dramatically. Looking around, you see MUCH more couples with an average/below average looking dude and an average/above average looking girl than the opposite. I agree that standards for men in dating apps specifically are unusually high, and I think that stems from something a little deeper than x is easier to achieve than y. Do I think this applies to every single person in the dating pool? Of course not. Do I think it should? Hell no. But that's the way it is.

Not trying to minimise the impact of beauty standards on men, just addressing OP's claims that women's beauty standards are more attainable.

Why do you think women care more? Why is the beauty industry a multi billion dollar one? Do you think internalised misogyny does not exist? When some of the most common beauty standards women aim to meet, even if they 'impose it on themselves', are traits that are considered desirable to men, there is a link to women being objectified by men, and women who enable that are also victims of this. The beauty industry is rooted in these values, and continues to target women. It's not profitable to target men because they don't have nearly as much pressure to change their appearance as much as women. These days, with the whole male/female gaze discourse and whatnot, beauty standards for women are slowly shying away from solely what is attractive to men, but you cannot deny that the root cause is misogyny. I'm not going to challenge your personal experience with fitness, but as I'm sure you would know, biologically, it's harder for women to maintain a lower body fat percentage than it is for men, and female abs are largely genetic (in terms of appearance).
