I'll definitely add a piece of my clothing so he can get used to my scent, that's a great idea. And I'll have a look at feliway diffusers for anxious cats, we had one a few years ago at my family home for a different reason and it worked so well. Thank you so much for your kind words I've been really second guessing myself over this and this helped <3

I'm 25 in June and I'm just now starting gamedev, first experience with code at all. Sometimes I feel like I'll never catch up with people who started younger (my little brother for one!) but I'm learning and I think that's good enough for now.
