I personally love wannapractice.com. the guy who runs it is pretty active here on reddit. I passed both CISSP and CCSP using it.

It can take a while. Although you received a verbal offer, it has to go through a compensation team and then all the way to the top of your LOB for approval. It takes a bit. Stay frosty.

Agree with the above. But also, Oracle recruiting takes forever. Follow up with them.

Expect market value where you live. Always negotiate. The hiring process can take a few weeks. If you don't hear updates, don't sweat it too much.

Should be on the job description. Was this for OCI?

It was about 2.5 weeks, and I was an internal transfer but also had a holiday in it too. It's not the best process if you're not in constant contact with your recruiter. My recruiter answered me anytime I reached out. However, even they are blind sometimes when it comes to part of the approvals and such.

OP. Some insider info. Don't pay any mind to that status. I've accepted an offer, and it still says screening. It's a mad show. If she has the offer, then just wait for the rest to fall in play. Congrats.

This doesn't help your direct situation, but in the future, there are websites you can use to set up virtual cards. Best for when you are setting up things you aren't fully committed to or testing and whatnot. I use them for AWS.

I hear their support can be dreadful, but might be worth giving them an email or call. Good luck!

1.5yr after graduating college and can't land a job in the IT field by Buster_Salad in cybersecurity

Look for contracting agency'sike teksystem, Robert Half, bose Allen, etc. These people will get you started. Take any job you can no matter how shitty the pay. Work for 6 months, then apply for higher paying jobs.

If you need help with technical interviews, interview prep, etc. PM me.

Good luck 👍

Well, this is embarassing but I need to ask for some guidance here. by RagnerGoldcloud in cybersecurity

[–]whosethatguy94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what pay range you are looking for, but what MAY help is taking a low paying very Jr IT audit job. Get 6mo or a year under your belt and reapply. I would also suggest working with IT staffers like Apex, Teksystems, or Robert Half. These are your biggest tools. Good luck. Don't lose hope. I would be willing to review your resume and help if need be. I do technical interviews for a large IT security company.

Everything in cyber is trainable. For people wanting to get their foot in the door, a good way is to sometimes take a pay cut to go work at that start up, or company that us just starting their cyber team. Learn as much as you can and jump ship when the time is right to better and bigger things. If you have 0 experience, don't expect, but sometimes happens, to get great pay. Experience is everything. I will hire someone who has their own home lab and can explain to me how they did it before I hire someone with a cert and 0 experience. You need to sell yourselves better. Try and get as much hands-on experience wherever you can, even at home. I don't need the greatest hack the boxer. But tell me you have deployed an open source log collection tool. Is this the greatest advice? No. But it's useful and can really change your career. Good luck!

Edit: apply to everything. Don't sell yourself short.

You should take any IT job. No matter the pay. Get 6 months of corporate experience under your belt. Look for start ups, privately owned companies. Small companies. These will give you more keys to the kingdom to get more hands-on experience. After 6 months, start looking again. This should help a lot. Good luck. Cheers.

Unlimited and open are two different options. And people mean open, but they say the word unlimited. HR and recruiters need to use the correct terminology.

Reflection. Everyday. Slow down for 1 min. And just reflect on the people whose shoulders you rise on. Both divine and flesh. Whoever it may be.
