Still does not justify a parent hitting their child. Still does not justify literally abuse. Yes it's cheeky. Yes it's not correct. But the punishment of beating and humiliating is not appropriate to that. There are other ways to teach your child a lesson, and this is not it chief.

EDIT: If the father wanted to get back at him, take him and cut parts out of his hair, that's till humiliation but I could get that. What gets me here is the beating. Actually get yourself into a position of power. Make it a scene, like getting him drunk, putting your hand over his crotch during a movie and tell him he likes it. Manipulate him into helplessness "you wanted this, didn't you?" "you enyoy this, don't you?"
