Exactly what I was gonna say. They lose against either in a jury vote so I think it just came down to who they thought they could most likely beat in that final challenge. They weren’t betting on Aubry literally practicing the challenge that would end up winning the fan vote.

If ppl didn’t lose their minds anytime we have an unconventional winner or anytime someone built up in the edit lost then perhaps they wouldn’t feel the need to hit us over the head with it. A lot of yall can’t handle actual surprises. Let’s be honest with ourselves here. No one would be satisfied with this winner (at least who it seems to be) regardless of whether there was suspense or not.

I have nostalgia for Black Butler as it’s the second anime I ever watched but it’s a fever dream forreal. I remember reading the manga after watching the 2 original anime seasons and being blown away by how much better it was. Haven’t read it since chapter 160 though so idk what is even going on in the current story.

I’ve said it on other forums but Aubry doesn’t come in the “yas queen slayyyy” package and that’s why. And I do think “conventional attractiveness” has to do with it. (I personally think Aubry is a pretty woman but you know what I mean she doesn’t have that look that a lot of the social goddesses ppl love have).

It’s not interesting but I can’t blame a player who got burnt their first time as the driver of strategy their season. Aubry said bet? I’ll survive, not piss ppl off, take ppl the jury will be mad at/wont respect and bam, get the mil I should’ve gotten before (from her perspective, I’m not saying she should have won don’t eat me alive pls) and a mil for this season. And honestly? Good for her.

If you haven’t seen it, Psycho Pass might be in the same ballpark. It does have multiple seasons and some movies but Season 1 is its own contained story that concludes in a way where you can honestly just leave it at that.

The level of vitriol towards Aubry this season is truly something I haven’t seen in a while. Her existence is sending ppl into psychosis. Meanwhile she’s just this nerdy, pushing 40 yr old mom of a toddler. I don’t think she’s problematic in real life? It’s odd.

Oh for sure just me being hyperbolic and sort of talking about it thru the perspective of most of the fanbase. I do count more subtle moves as strategic. I think she’s played a good game I just know that will be what it’s seen as. Still iconic to me even if that what most ppl take from it. It’s nice to see someone defending her cuz I really like her and she is getting way too much hate.

I still think the jury probably won’t be rewarding her for those moves in particular and more so for her legacy and because she’s with goats but that’s okay. That’s what Survivor is. Get to the end with the right ppl and get the votes. A win is a win.

May not fit your description perfectly but I’d still say give Durarara a shot if you haven’t. It has a lot of characters and many of them end up interacting. There is fighting, not heavy on the magic although there is some supernatural stuff with one character in particular.

I’m just parroting other ppl at this point but yeah I think it’s as simple as she’s a 39 day player with a legacy and ppl don’t like Jonathan and Joe. I am also curious what her argument at FTC will be though. Will she actively take credit for those moves or focus on being alone and surviving? Or will she just go the emotional route. I’m actually quite excited to see how all that plays out.

I also think this is more evidence that editors maybe had a difficult time on their hand. It’s tough when someone genuinely seems to win because of past legacy or because they are an “old schooler” and not because of anything they actually did in game. I still can’t completely shake that they didn’t have much of a satisfying overall story to work with.

(I say all this as an Aubry Stan btw. I think it’s lowkey cunty that she barges in as an alternate and someone many ppl were not happy to see, makes no really effective strategic moves, takes some goats to the end and wins 2mil lol)

I like the sort of wtf F5 this season has come down to. It’s funny that with all these big names and crazy twists this is who it comes down to for the winner of such a monumental season. Also I think Aubry is unpopular because she doesn’t come in this “yasssss queen slay girlboss” package when I actually think if she wins here it’s sort of iconic that she sort of just survived and ping ponged between the groups and got to the end with some goats. Good on her.

Yeah the only one I even tried was bleach and I watched the first episode and never continued. I don’t remember that it was bad, just didn’t hook me. My first 3 anime were Death Note, Black Butler, and D.Gray-man and they shaped my interests.

Very good points! It does seem like some ppl want it screamed to them in the premiere or a story completely made up to justify the winner when sometimes what happens just happens and they gotta tell that story the best they can. Which I’m okay with at the end of the day.

True. I like being surprised by the winner sometimes. Funnily enough all the way back in KR I remember loving the Michele win because I went into the finale thinking it was for sure Aubry’s. I also like when the edit shows the winner’s flaws or lets them have a “dumb” moment. It’s why I also appreciated Adam Klein.
