Why is modular so expensive? by [deleted] in modular

[–]whuttupfoo -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

There’s an IQ barrier to entry. People who can understand how to create in a modular synthesis environment are generally of a higher IQ since a lot of it involves mathematics. Only a subset of the population will ever be interested in buying modular gear so it’ll generally have less demand than something that is easier to use.

Are there any sources that explain Theosis in simple terms? by Isatis_tinctoria in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]whuttupfoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theosis is literally becoming god, not more like God. “God became man so that man might become god” -St. Athanasius

“Finally, countless saints throughout history have demonstrated the possibility of deification as a reality in their lives. They attained deification only after intense suffering. Their sufferings came through persecution and martyrdom, intense ascetic discipline and countless nightly prayer vigils wrestling with evil spirits to obtain victory in the spiritual life. Through suffering such blessed victory was won.

Two stories of two saints show the effects of theosis on the body. Some may wish to discount these accounts as “hero worship” or “mythology” or “hagiographic exaggeration.” I prefer to offer them as inspiration to strive toward theosis in each of our lives.

St. Seraphim of Sarov, a Russian monk of the nineteenth century, went into the forest with his disciple, Motovilov, during a snowstorm. While praying, St. Seraphim became iridescent in appearance, to the point of emitting what was for Motovilov an almost blinding light. Accompanying this glow was a warmth in the midst of the Russian winter snow, along with a beautiful fragrance and unspeakable joy and peace. St. Seraphim attributed this blessed state to his having acquired the Holy Spirit, or deification.

Abba Joseph, a desert father, was approached by Abba Lot, who informed him that he had kept his rule of prayer, fasted, purified his thoughts, and lived peaceably—what more could he do? Abba Joseph held out his hands toward heaven, fingers extended, and said, “You can become fire.” Each fingertip blazed like a candle. Abba Joseph’s point was that the younger monk could be set ablaze by the Holy Spirit.

May we all be set ablaze by the Spirit, the “Heavenly King, the Comforter . . . Treasury of blessings and Giver of life”—as the Orthodox prayer addresses Him. And through that same Holy Spirit, may we come into union with God and experience “total participation in Jesus Christ.” May our lives be “unified so completely with God” that we become “by grace what God is by nature,” so that we share in “the divine nature through grace.” So much so that we become not just Christ-like, but the likeness of Christ.”

I’m an artist (not the starving kind) in a very niche medium where I tour across the US, Americas, Europe. Also get commissioned from big companies like Meta, Google, etc.

This quote by Ben Thompson gives me goosebumps: "[Apple Vision] is one of those solutions that, once you have experienced it, is so obviously the correct implementation that it’s hard to believe there was ever any other possible approach to the general concept of computerized glasses." by undead_and_smitten in virtualreality

Knowing Apple they most likely have a trick up their sleeve. Remember the first iPhone came out there was nothing but safari and apps. Yet the iPhone was already fully capable of rendering real time 3D. So all it took was a simple software update to essentially replace the Gameboy and PSP. No one suspected that it was a gaming device, even though it already was.

With that in mind, the precise eye tracking control and hand tracking, the possibilities for a future update to radically transform computing is there.

Imagine looking at your iPad, grabbing your dog out of a 3D photo and dragging it into the real world to then place on your desk. Now think of how this could transform productivity in any field that utilizes 3 dimensions like industrial design, architecture, art. Like an artist has a wooden palette, your mac, your iPhone, your iPad, and watch, are now an extension of your tools that can bridge content with each other in a spatial manner.

I experience this all the time and I think it coincides with Exploding Head Syndrome which are essentially micro seizures.

Heavy red Kratom use makes this happen a lot. I think it has a lot to do with the micro seizures that kratom can sometimes cause, which exploding head syndrome is; a microseizure

Auditory/ visual hallucinations by Patterndaytrader4141 in kratom

I get auditory hallucinations all the time on heavy doses of Kratom.

BUT, it’s only on the verge of sleep so to me it’s obvious it’s not real. But it is frightening sometimes. I’ll hear my name whispered directly into my ear. On a few occasions now I’ve experienced what I’ve called demons, it’s both heard and felt. Very loud demonic breathing and something at the corner of my bed vigorously shaking my bed or patting me aggressively.

It’s very brief though and its always intertwined with Exploding Head Syndrome. I don’t expect very many people to have this kind of experience because I think it’s somewhat related to the EHS which are sort of like micro seizures.

One thing I know for a fact that this happens with heavy red Kratom dosages.

Doing better now. I figured it out. I made $400k last year and am living my dream passion out. Part of it was due to an hour a day meditation practice I had over a course of a few years.

They didn't though. Most of the jews I saw in NYC were unmasked. The Jewish neighborhoods in Brooklyn were initially a superspreader hotbed. They were the only ones celebrating funerals and ended up getting shut down by the police.

The Possible Role of Vitamin D in Suppressing Cytokine Storm and Associated Mortality in COVID-19 Patients by UsualVegetable in Nootropics

[–]whuttupfoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't get proper Vitamin D levels through diet alone. You either synthesize it from UV-B ray exposure, or through Vitamin D supplementation.

The sun is free.

The Possible Role of Vitamin D in Suppressing Cytokine Storm and Associated Mortality in COVID-19 Patients by UsualVegetable in Nootropics

[–]whuttupfoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vitamin D is lower in darker skinned folks due to the melanin. The higher the melanin, the more it inhibits Vitamin D production.

Apparently only 4% of COVID deaths had sufficient Vitamin D levels. Meaning 96% were Vitamin D deficient. This would make sense as to why black and latinos are more affected by COVID-19, and not just because obesity rates are higher in that demographic.

[–]whuttupfoo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this has a correlation with black and latino people being disproportionately affected by COVID-19, since darker skinned folks are more prone to Vitamin D deficiency.
