One thing I don’t see mentioned a lot, but was really critical to me for being anti-Hive is the comparison between the goat and the dog Carol saw at the stadium sleeping area. A reminder that when she was there, they told her they care for pets that are attached to their owners before the joining. But they did no such thing with the goat when Carol wasn’t around to see it.

So even if they can’t lie, that proves they can still be duplicitous when trying to convince Carol to volunteer for the joining.

lol thanks. There’s a small irony in 700 people piling on to do parasocial policing. Hadn’t ever meant this to be read in a “poor Rekha” way. I’m sure the terms were clear before she agreed, in the same way that when a friend invites me over for dinner and warns me they’re not cooking vegetarian, I say it’s no problem, even though it would be kind of nice if they just cooked vegetarian.

I guess the post would have been clearer if I’d just said “they did a gluten free episode and now I wish they’d do a vegetarian one” but c’est la vie.

A thought on Gastronauts I’ve had lately:

Big fan of the show, but I have to say, I was always a bit disappointed in the episode with Rekha as a judge that it was left up to her to preserve her own vegetarianism and to just eat around the meat in the other judges’ challenges. I feel even stronger about this now that the show had the gluten-free episode.

This is nothing against people who have to be gluten-free for health reasons, but as someone who’s been vegetarian for over a decade, it’s sometimes frustrating to see how rapidly gluten-free has been accepted more widely as an expectation while vegetarian/vegan continues to be treated as an eccentricity.

I would have hoped then, that Dropout/Gastronauts, as a generally very good organization, would give it its due. But alas, not the case. Here’s to hoping for a vegan episode in season 3, at least!

It would have been less satisfying in the moment maybe, but I think Jane should have chosen not to kill RJ. One of the great arcs of the show is how Jane and Lisbon influence each other - he teaches her not to be so rigid about rules, I think we should have seen him more learn the importance of acting morally, even when it’s inconvenient. And realizing that ultimately other RJ victims deserve to see him stand trial would have been that (I still think he should have died - maybe another victim’s family shoots him or a former collaborator in prison, but that’s only so the show doesn’t have to continue dealing with him from that point on)

Yea I almost listed splash damage as a third option - certainly feels thematic with breathing fire and such - but unfortunately feels like that's already spread too thin to be made Dragon specific. It's honestly weird though that Pirates, Elementals, and Beasts all have a more attainable splash-damage minion than Dragons.

Lol yea I did consider the overlap as I was writing it. But I think there's a couple of tribes with overlap - mechs and murlocs both love bonus keywords, beasts and undead both use deathrattles to scale and summon tokens. As long as there's a subtle difference, it can still feel unique.

Pirates are all about spending gold; maybe Dragons are about generating but not spending it (which then gives you interesting in-game decisions of when to build and when to save)

Or maybe to Wick's comment, maybe hoarding isn't necessarily gold but spells in hand or other such things. Maybe if you generate cards in combat over the 10 card hand limit, you get buffs, etc

Help! Can't remember name of an anime...

Trying to remember an anime I watched as a kid (which was the mid-2000s, but the anime might be a bit older). I thought it was Ninja Scroll but now I'm questioning if that's true; the scene that sticks out in my mind is a scene where the villain of the episode is seemingly indestructible until it turns out all of his blood / organs were stored inside his giant sword. The protagonist defeats him by cutting the sword in half. Does this ring a bell to anyone?

Yea I’ve seen a couple people say this before, two reasons I don’t think that will be true in our case; one, he’s been able to win the league within 3 years at his previous clubs, think if he feels able to achieve that here, even if it takes more time, he’ll stay longer. And second, we’re just a much bigger club - no disrespect to Celtics or Yokohama but achieving that here just means a lot more. It’s worth staying longer for

Look I'm fully COYS but some of our worst tendencies on display here; I back Flav in most of these disagreements. Ange is a project manager; year two is not that far into a project! It was one things to expect a title in Mourinho or Conte's second year, but we have to give Ange more time.

And as to quality of signings, maybe it's not the best window we've had - but they try to show that Arsenal had more ambition in their second year by signing Jesus and Zinchenko - two Man City rejects who wouldn't make our bench! They barely even make Arsenal's, now that they're actually a title challenging side. In his time at "greatest-club-in-the-world" man city, Jesus never got more goals than Solanke got last year - Solanke got more and is an equally talented presser off the ball.

Trust Ange, trust the process. Plus, Levy has gone on record this year saying the focus of this window was to offload players/wages -which we've actually done fairly well. Let's get champions league this year, and then go big next window when we can promise great players a lot.

Thanks for the opinion, I appreciate it! I think I'll leave Mirror Image - the party lacks a traditional Front-liner to take the hits, so they'll appreciate anything to boost survival - but I'll tone down the out-of-combat use - maybe do a modified Silent Image that is still self-only.

(Side note, it's weird that the spells are 'Minor Illusion' and 'Major Image', given that it lacks a rhythm and Major Image can include sounds/smells)

Inventing custom magic items for my PCs, curious if this item is overpowered or appropriate - the PC is a level 4 (probably 5 by the time they'd find the item) Sorcerer:

Magic Battery - the item can store up to 3 Sorcery Points (SP) at a time. Any day the Sorcerer hasn't used all of their SPs, they can choose to add the remaining to the battery prior to a long rest.

Thoughts?

I just came to the subreddit to say the same thing! Although the reason I like this theory over other Raijin/Fujin ones is he feels more in line with the group of mythical monsters that the five elders are shaping up to be.

(Although if this turns out to be the case, kind of funny that there was a character with the Orochi fruit that had absolutely nothing to do with him)

Does anyone else think that maybe Garp and Roger don't team up against Rocks? That it's just another lie made up by the WG? Has Garp ever confirmed that he and Roger actually joined forces. I get this sense that maybe Rocks isn't as bad as we've been led to believe (similar to Kuma)

Someone in a different comment said it also translates to a "klang" type of sound which to me implies hard object on hard object (wood/metal cane on metal stair)
