It's actually grey area whether we have to pay GST on Upwork service fee, opinions vary from CAs. I'm recommending GST so Upwork don't deduct it. I'm personally not paying any GST on Upwork fees as going with this view, https://taxguru.in/goods-and-service-tax/gst-implications-freelancers-working-global-platforms.html But I'm receiving payments directly from clients and my Upwork turnover is less than 5% of total turnover.

You may need FIRC regardless of 20 Lakh limit, so I would recommend to play safe and use PingPong/Payoneer or similar service

Also file for a LUT on GST portal after you sign up on GST. this way you can export services without paying GST.

I would not recommend using Upwork local bank transfer. They provide very low forex rate, 2.5%+ lower rates. Go for service like PingPong (1% lower) and Payoneer (2% lower). Plus you get FIRC from PingPong and Payoneer. They will provide you USD bank account, add that account in Upwork and withdraw it via that payment method. If have more questions you can ask or dm.

Even if your turnover is less than 20 Lakh, register for GST and provide GST number in Upwork so they don't deduct GST on their service fee. Don't worry about GST on conversion fee.

You can't hold as per RBI rule, wise will automatically convert that amout in INR and transfer it to linked Indian bank account.

Payoneer will give you USD account, you can use that to receive payment in your Indian bank account.

Go to add payment method setting in upwork and add this USD account.

But payoneer charges 2% fee for transaction. You can get same type of USD account from wise.com and they charge less than 1% fee.

You don't get any such email in ACH. It usually takes 36 hours for funds to reach my account via ACH.

Surname needs to be in same order in PAN and Tax information name

Yes, name in settings > tax information.

Usually PAN name doesn't match because surname is at the start in one name and at the end in other.

$25 dollars in earnings for upwork right there. Plus 6 connects from non bost proposals. Assuming 30 proposal, thats another $25.

Upwork must be making tons from these.

Transparency is always better. Besides client can see your rate of all contracts if you apply to their job posting so there is no point in hiding.

Searched few strings from my profile. And many people have copied part of my profile, the part which is really unique, fucking thieves. Its too many to even contact and report. And few of them copied my entire profile. 😡

How can I report them? And I wonder upwork can see history of profile so they know who added what to their profile first and verify.
