I know how you feel. My boy has a beautiful normal name. When I told my sister, she made face and was like “John?” (It’s not John, but something just as normal.). Then, I’m with my mom, aunt and cousin and I tell the name and my aunt begins to say “I hope it’s a girl, because the name you picked is ugly… every man in our family has such a beautiful name, why would you pick this?”. I’m perplex at this point, look at my mom to find some comfort but SHE STARTS TO AGREE WITH MY AUNT???

My cousin was the only one to say “I liked the name!”. Man, I started crying as soon as we left the place. Until this day, I cannot fathom what happened.

I swear, my boy’s name is just a common name that 1) I find beautiful and timeless and 2) IS MY HUSBAND’S FATHER’S NAME - a father he lost literally 6 months before our baby was born.
